I don't think it matters about the clause in the confirmation. I believe they should have at least confirmed the change in price with customers first.
There is supposed to be an email, after the first, giving the exact price with S&H, tax. The last sentence in the order confirmation email reads: You will receive a contact e-mail within 24 hours with your actual total amount including shipping and handling and applicable taxes. Did anyone receive that email? I didn't.
Also, if the managers are really so concerned about the quotes, why do they still work? Wouldn't you disable them, until you had time to check them out? If someone 'tampered' with them, they would have had to hack into their system. I think some manager is trying to cover his arse, instead of admitting to a prcing error on taking off the monitor.
I have to get mine from UPS today, some of us have to work and can't sit home all day waiting for a PC (<--jealousy).
The only charge so far is a temporary hold for the $918 amount. I should call and see if I can get my credit line reduced to $950. Seriously, I think my CC card would look at the confirmation email and the temporary hold, and question why they upped the price without informing the customer, if they do. Also, I personally spoke to a member of their web sales team that confirmed the price, the day after I ordered. I have his name and extension to add to my arsenal, if necessary.
I have a pretty good feeling GateWay will do the right thing. Oh well, happy thoughts.
