I have a Gateway Solo 1450 laptop, and I have been thinking about upgrading the hard drive on it. Gateway's web site says that the maximum hard drive it supports is 30GB (which I find hard to believe, because the machine was made in 2002 and the BIOS is from 2003), but other web sites are selling larger drives (80 GB at least) that they state will work with the machine. I'm wondering if what Gateway may have meant was that they only sold a 30GB drive with the correct mounting bracket for the Solo 1450. The drive is a standard 2.5 inch hard drive, and the mounting bracket is removable, so physically installing a new drive won't be a problem.
