Gateway to close all retail stores

I wouldnt count on it, they closed our store without notice 2 years ago, no one at the store even saw it coming....hell there was talk a few weeks earlier of them relocating the store to another area in the town. I came into work the windows were blacked out with garbage bags. We worked for the next few days dismantling the store and boxing everything up. The employees had the opportunity to buy some of the computer stuff, but it wasnt really that much off of retail. However the chair I am sitting in now was bought for $10, the microwave in my kitchen for $20, a very nice wooden bench for $50. They donated the copier and refrigerator in the break room to the local battered womans shelter.

Arent Office Depot stores going to sell Gateway computers out the door from now on?

Having the Gateway Country store, and having Office Depot sell the same stuff seems redundant.

i agree.. i went there and they fixed my problem promptly.. they even answered all my questions and go things right.. i threw the girl a curve ball and she knew what she was talking about...

remember she was dealing with a geek.. and when she answered it i was sold..

needless to say.. good deal..

I just wish they werent going to close all stores.. but its the bottom line that's the most for a company.

Wow - almost a year to the date since my Gateway store was closed. I beleive like 60 some-odd-number stores were closed along with mine. I lvoed working there - great employees, and selling the stuff was pretty cool. Half of us never sold enough to make commission (we were a VERY small market store, in terms of actual store size, one of the smallest in the company - got paid a flat rait of $9.50 an hour), so we focused on the quality of our sales and consultation more than just trying to sell people stuff.

Thanks for the info, but I going to stop by anyways. I have been looking for a good deal on a new laptop.

I've noticed here recently that OfficeDepot is starting to sell Gateway Laptops and Desktops. Possibly a better way to stay in the retail store channel without actually having its own B&M presence??

Ever since their aquisition of eMachines, they've had easy access to supply chains. The militaries Base Exchanges sell Gateway computers too!

just got back from tehre and got a 15" LCD for 100 bucks I was amazed becasuse it was still in the box and everything box was not open either.
