I'm looking for a new place to stay when visiting Gatlinburg and these emailed good prices. If anyone's ever stayed at one of them, how about commenting or PMing me about it.

Thanks

Mountain Heritage Inn
Riverside Motor Lodge
McKay's Inn Downtown
Quality Inn Creekside (formerly River Terrace Creekside)

Never stayed in those, but they seem decent from the outside.

There's probably cheaper options in Pigeon Forge, which is about 10 minutes away from Gatlinburg. The Creekside place is right at the start of Gatlinburg if I remember correctly. Nothing special from the outside, but looks like easy access to get in and out of the hotel. However, it would probably mean driving if you go out to eat in Gatlinburg or to a bar.

If I'm not mistaken, I think the Riverside place would be in walking distance to most things downtown. Probably your best bet as far as that goes.

Ripley's aquarium is pretty cool if you have time.

I like to walk to everything once I get settled in, so I may have to drop the Creekside as a consideration. Thanks royaldank.

The Heritage Mountain Inn offered the best price.

Now that I look at the Heritage place, it's at Traffic Light #6. That is pretty much the center of town. You'll be fine there. The Ripley's aquarium is just a block or two away. Plenty of restuarants and things within a 5-10 minute walk.

You'll be fine there...as far as location. And it's been there as long as I can remember (15 years or more), so it must be decent inside.

Plus, if you have time, it's on the side of town near the smokies and near some trails and park spaces. Nice for a picnic if this is girlfriend/wife related, and not work related. You just keep driving down the road a couple minutes and hit a welcome center that will take care of you.

It was either Heritage or Riverside that my wife and I stayed in during our wedding. Our balcony overlooked the river, (like RIGHT over the river). The room itself wasn't anything special, but the view was beautiful, nonetheless.

Thanks, royaldank. I've been to Gatlinburg before, but I couldn't remember seeing the Mountain Heritage Inn. I didn't spend much time on the River Road section though. If it's been there that long though, it must be okay.

Thanks, smaultz. I'm looking for something quiet with a decent view. I've stayed at the Microtel there and there's no view or anything. It's just a place to sleep period.

KK, the rate for a room with two queen beds, small refrigerator is $64.95 Friday and Saturday and $54.95 weekdays, plus tax.

You probably know this, but Cherokee (and a casino) is only half an hour or so from Gatlinburg.

Yeah, royaldank, I've considered visiting there before, but I'm just not much of a gambler. I think it's just about all video games anyway, isn't it?

Yeah, Cherokee is all video games. And no alcohol to boot. That's why I never go there. However, they did add an exciting new game of live blackjack. They pay a dealer looking guy to point at the video screens while you play blackjack. They can't legal touch any cards (and there aren't any cards since it's on a video screen) and it's dumb as heck.

Personally, I hate Cherokee, but some people like to gamble no matter what.

I say go play a round of Hillbilly golf and ride the incline railway. I've always wanted to play up there but never have.

The NASCAR park on the other side of Pigeon Forge is pretty darn fun. Good carts for the most part.
