Sleepy Joe will probably win the nomination but none of the D's at the base where I work want him to. When it comes to the lgbtq community they have the same rights that I do and do not need special privileges or protections as there are plenty already on the books. Rod Desantis did the right thing when he enacted the law that prevents schools from indoctrinating children to alternative lifestyles.

I do not want them trying to force their lifestyles and views on me or mine just like I don't force people to hear about how I think they should own a gun, be able to turn a wrench on their own cars, fix a lawnmower or anything else of interest to me. Parents are responsible for raising their own kids and instilling values in them at home.

Some of you lefties are extremists on par with the maga gang.

What a sick human being you are.
Since you're such the humanitarian why don't you open up your home to them and pay all of their expenses out of pocket?

You appear to be incredibly insecure about your sexuality. You should probably deal with that.

teaching acceptance is not indoctrination. Not ignoring that these people exist is not indoctrination. Basically, what you are trying to call indoctrination is the removal of suppression. People are no longer suppressing the fact that these people are part of society and deserver to be treated with respect and dignity, just like any other person. That it's okay to be yourself. They are part of the real world we live in, and it pisses you off because it is making it more difficult for you, and those that think like you, to hide that reality, and to ignore truth.

CA is about to lose even more businesses as crime and costs soar out of control so nobody in their right mind wants them leading anything. I read yesterday that McDonalds is close to closing 1k stores and BK says up to 400 stores will close this year. Yeah nobody wants them in charge of anything else.
Watch the freaking video before you shoot back. Newsome explains how the right's riff that CA and the big cities' crime problems are so big is a myth. The red states are actually much worse. WATCH THE VIDEO OR SHUT UP.

I would support Newsom for President if he were to run. I would also support Michigan Governor Whitmer or Pete Buttigieg as part of a ticket. Too bad no one seems to want to run for President. Biden is too old for another 4 years and I would vote for him over any Republican candidate, but the Democrats need someone else to take over.
TBH I think Joe's likely more than capable of conducting a far above average administration until Jan. 20, 2029. The other people you mention, very probably. The case was made in 2020 that Biden was the most electable. I don't have my finger on that pulse. But attacking Biden because you think he's too old is foolish. He may not have Obama's basketball game but he's sure to be a much better president than anyone the Republicans could put forward.

I'll take anti vax over lgbtq support and illegal immigration run amok.
So let’s start prosecuting the employers who hire the illegal immigrants. The flow would certainly significantly slow down because as soon as word spread there would be few, if any, jobs for them upon arrival. That’s been put forth but for some reason, Repubs consistently vote against such steps. I wonder why?

As far as LGBTQ support…yeah, fuck anyone not like you, right? They’re not humans after all, right? They don’t deserve any bit of human decency be shown to them, amiright?

What a small minded jerk.

And before you bring up the grooming and “think of the children” bullshit…from what I’ve been seeing, the ones grooming kids for sexual exploitation are the priests of the Catholic and evangelical churches, esp the youth pastors.

The antivax dipshit? Are you looking forward to his candidacy? 🤣

To be anti-vax or support a potential POTUS candidate who is is just OMG WTF are you? Do you have any idea how many lives the covid vaccines have saved? Or how much better the lives are of people who got vaccinated? And everybody else's because of the concomitant control of the virus? Get a grip, educate yourself.

Illegal immigrants are another boogeyman that the far right uses to radicalize their base.

As you've pointed out, they NEVER willingly put forth any effort into punishing these businesses that hire illegal immigrants. They LIKE having cheap labor. They want the benefit of having cheap labor, especially from illegal immigrants, and to be able to complain about illegal immigrant workers, but not have to face any repercussions from hiring such workers.

Look at the lying sack of crap that is Sarah Huckabee. Morons voted this sack of crap into office. The Department of Labor found children illegally working in dangerous jobs in her state. And one of her responses was to keep pushing for the weakening of child labor laws. That's not fucking thinking of the children. That's letting shitty businesses continue to be shitty with impunity.

It's going to break my heart to see that clown run for president.
Part of my objection to him is that I don't really want anybody for President that wants the job and I think he does badly. But the reality is that's all we ever have to choose from, those who want the job. But to call him a clown expresses in my mind a lot of contempt and that is something I feel we Americans have been profoundly indoctrinated to feel. Maybe you could clarify what you mean by a clown. I don't particularly like his politics. He is a West Coast liberal of the citified metro-sexual type. I think he is deeply ignorant of what it means to be a rural conservative and why such people exist. For me he paints a target on his back needlessly.

America is politically a profoundly rural nation and without a deep understanding of people like that you say and do things that make you look like an enemy. People need to know their leaders have their real best interests at heart. It's up to democrats to show compassion for the right because we are all geographically and local culture programmed. We have been programmed to distrust. We need people on the left that have transcended that and can feel real empathy for everybody.

What are your objections to him?

U.S. has been majority Urban since the 1920's.

Search it up.

"The Left" showing compassion and empathy for bigots doesn't help either.

I mean, It may have been neccesary in the past to make certain concessions, etc. to "slave states" and the like, in order to preserve the Union, but there's no need to let the inmates run the asylum, amirite?

His general lack of leadership. Why is CA still pouring money down the HSR rat hole? The project was stillborn, the budget was blown before a single rail has been laid, yet CA continues to dump money into that bottomless pit.
Why is a state that never had slavery spending time and money on reparation's? And why are they coming up with fairytale amounts that can never be paid? If they want to address past injustice, why not come up with something workable?

California has serious problems, but they're solvable problems. Rather than addressing those issues the state continues to make grand plans and empty gestures that will never amount to anything of value to the state. This all falls on Newsom.

The amount of money and time being spent on reparations is for all intents and purposes zero. Not sure why anyone cares about it as it is purely a messaging exercise.

So the recommendations being discussed are nothing more than window dressing? An empty gesture to demonstrate the states deep resolve to try and make victims whole but stopping at the one dollar mark? I like that even less.

Really? So your complaint was they were giving reparations and now you’re mad that they aren’t? Looks like you’re searching for something to be mad about.

That does not really logically apply in my opinion. If you think that it is morally reprehensible to offer monetary reparations for votes and you’re informed that the money part was also a con job, finding that even more reprehensible follows naturally like night follows day.

But MrSquished makes a valid point, also in my opinion. I would say that if you are morally honest with yourself you could never vote for the new Republicans whose moral values stink to high heavens. But that still leaves the possibility there are better Democrats than Newsom.

So to be clear it is reprehensible to offer monetary reparations (which they 100% did not do) but even more reprehensible to not offer monetary reparations after conducting a study on it.

This is pants on head dumb logic.

Also how was it for votes? Newsom was never even remotely in danger of losing any election.

People make up the weirdest things in their heads.

They don’t know why they hate they just know they are supposed to. Newsom is just another distraction for the gop to keep their base riled up and ready to vote against him should he ever decide to run.

California is welcome to pay out as much they see fit. I no longer reside there and won't have to pay a share of the bill. Dangling that payment with no intention or ability to pay it does indeed annoy the hell out of me. It serves no purpose, it's simply going to make a bunch of people feel that they've been cheated again.
Foolish pie in the sky ideas don't address the issue, they exacerbate it.

I only referred to it being illogical to claim someone looks to be seeking to be outraged under the conditions as they were presented, that Newsom was offering monitory reparations, and that on finding out those were never really intended but just political theater further outrage amounts to looking for it. I did not include the notion that such reparations weren’t actually being offered but that was the first question I had. Personally, I am unaware of the Governor offering such reparations. Conservatives have many beliefs they should in my opinion be angry about but for which, in my opinion, no evidence exists.

He was never offering reparations, that’s a made up thing.

Greenman was mad that Newsom made a study about reparations and then said he was doubly mad when reparations were not offered - both from an anti-reparations place. It’s absolute silliness. He got what he wanted and then got mad about it.
