Gay characters in video games?

Hey I was just wondering if you know of any gay characters in video games or ones that are insinuated to be gay? When I think back I don't really remember any I've come across! Is kind of unrelated but I just thought that maybe this is a little offensive if not if there aren't any, considering that it's a pretty common thing now! So excluding them almost seems intentional! Unless of course there are games that have gay characters. Just a thought lol

Yeah, it seemed freaking artificial as hell though. All of a sudden you had to be careful with what you said to your colleagues or they may take it as a "okay to dock". I stopped going/doing side quests for the male characters because of this.

Seemed very last-minute forced.

To be fair the same problem existed in both previous games imo. As a femshep I ended up hooking up with Kaidan in ME1 simply by speaking with him between missions and the course of the conversations seemingly irreversibly trended that way. I just wanted some Q + A, not the D

It's a little shallow, but I think the advantage to that is that it reduces the chances of you getting locked 'out' of a desired romance by not talking to someone at the right time. It's a tradeoff either way.

But yeah, Dragon Age and Mass Effect both have gay characters present.

People just don't remember the early FF games... There were plenty of examples in them. They might not have been player controlled characters, but many of the NPCs/enemies you ran into had heavy references that they were gay.

I tend to be of the "who cares?" school, but there are at least three companions in Fallout New Vegas (two main quest and one DLC) who are gay, if one cares about such things.

By the same reasoning anyone who is religious could say games that don't have religion in them seems like they are being excluded and are offended.

I think we all could be a little more tolerant.

Wonder how long till we have an equal rights represented in games group out there.

I disagree; how does a game lacking gay characters making it intentional?

Starcraft 2 lacks units with portraits of Asians....is that intentional?

In Mass Effect the only person of Arab heritage was an annoying bitch reporter; is the lack of other Arab characters intentional?

There are situations where omission can be intentional, and there are situations where omission isn't driven by ulterior motives. It is up to us to make that judgement where intention lies.

In Mass Effect my Shepard was a lesbian. And she didn't discriminate against other alien races either. If the character remotely looked female, my Shepard was trying to get some.
