I am married and straight but I have a few gay coworkers and I have yet to hear one good argument against allowing them to marry. With the government so up in a huff about this issue, I just can't see their justification.

The majority of the people that are against it are either Christian or homophobic. I've yet to hear a reasonable conversation against it, as well. <shrug>

Oh, and I give this thread about 2 minutes before it turns into another flamefest.

<edit>Eh, I was close.</edit>

As long as they don't try to bring up kids in their 'family', I'm fine with that

There is absolutely no reason to go against gay marriages. Its their personal choice and they should be allowed to get married.

I'm old fashioned and I like the term "partner" better. Then I can get the hint and know they are in a gay marriage.

Must suck for you that more and more straight folks are referring to their spouses as partners.

Kids look to their parents as role models and a gay family would send them some very weird signals.

Also, if we're going to allow gay couples, why not allow polygamy?

There isn't a good reason for gays not to marry.

There also isn't a good reason why our state needs to recognize who our partners are. Marriage should not be part of our government in any shape or form. Bush wants an ammendment to the constitution banning gay marriage...*newsflash* the constitution doesn't even mention marriage...period. Libertarians and Democrats should unite and get marriage out of our states, end the merging of church and state and end the gay marriage debate for good.

Out of curiosity: care to provide a link to a study about that?

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/partner see 1-b

That's just a dictionary. Won't do.

I don't have any studies to quote on that, for multiple reasons:

I don't care enough to find one.
The dictionary shall suffice.
I notice it frequently when in public.

Well, that just means: 'I don't know jack about the subject, but I heard my neighbor John call his wife a partner in a local bar'

I hope gay marraiges are never allowed. But I also am not senseless. I know it is there constitutional right (at least here in the U.S.) to be able to have the same rights as any other person.

But personally, I find it disgusting and that is disvalues marraige.
