Thats like saying, don't worry about the fire in the pit, it will take care of itself, or we will just deal with it once it's become an un-controllable forrest fire. I'm not saying that Gay marriage is wrong, its just something that society HAS to consider, starting now.

Actually it's not at all, because we damn well know how and why fire spreads, whereas your assumption that legalizing gay marriage will increase the number of homosexuals and therefore lead to population decline is just a wild, uneducated assertion.

I think its hilarious that you just pretty much called someone an idiot and you don't know the difference between assertion and assumption.

Plus, if you think its not possible that it reduce population you are making an uneducated assumption too. Thats assumption, not ASSertion (maybe why you used it in the first place, eh? You a pillow biter?)

i'm pretty sure it could fit into the definition of an assertion... as well as an assumption.

asserting: 1 : to state or declare positively and often forcefully or aggressively

assume: 5 : to take as granted or true

Looks like they are loosely similar.

If you look at the context it doesn't work.

Either you have two usernames, or your entire family lacks any sort of education. I vote for two usernames.

It's truely pathetic that he's all apologetic now. If you're going to act a fool, stand there and act a fool. Don't back down cause you got checked by the mods.

Either way, ban 'em all... let Mod sort 'em out.

First I have to apologize for starting this. But that said, I have been reading the posts and trying to pick out the intelligent responses. I am a bit disappointed that few logical responses against gay marriage have been posted and all of them center on the raising of children. Ultimately this is a seperate debate and since only the right to adopt would be mandatable by law (we cannot make it illegal for people to procreate, so lesbians just need a donor and gays just need a female friend to assist) the raising of children plays no role in legalizing marriage. I have to say that the comprimize of making marriage a religious institution and union a legal one may work as that is what we do anyway (get the license then have a minister or justice of the peace sign off on the ceremony. But still I wonder any arguments for not allowing gays/lesbians the legal rights and responsibilities (and occasionally headaches) that we straight married couples have. Again, try to keep the raising of children seperate.

It's impossible to keep separate. Legalizing gay marriage makes gay unions more legitimate, and increases the chance that a gay couple can raise children.

Being firmly against gay marraige, I am still for civil unions that have the exact same rights as marraige. I know its strange that I would be for one and not the other since like I said they would be identical in the eyes of the law but thats just how I feel.

Now as far as raising kids, I have to say I don't like the idea much but there's a twist: I would be just fine with letting gays adopt kids. I believe that foster care and kids in the system in the US would be much better off with a loving mother/mother or father/father than someone who gets paid to take them in for a while (foster parents). I know some incredible people that are foster parents, but I also know they can't keep the kids long and that there are also horrid foster parents. I don't like the idea of gays doing artificial insemination, but I do recognize it is their right.

All I'm saying is that you sound very alike. I don't believe for a second that your "brother" can't just use your username on probably the same computer.

I've had the limp wristed iron fisted mods nearly ban my friend for letting me use his account to try to get some justice, and he was most definitely a different person.

Either way, I don't think anyone buys his apology, or cares that he's gone.
