I'm in the military, and I have absolutely no issue serving alongside a gay man. His ability to fight has nothing to do with his sexual orientation and it's sad that anyone would think otherwise. I have gay friends and as mentioned before, they are not sexual deviants looking to butt rape all other soldiers. They're honorable men just like me and my fellow soldiers. Now, that being said, the military is chock-full of bigots and homophobes. I've seen this first hand. This is just an unfortunate way of life. We already have enough issue with rape and misconduct towards women in the military and we're worried about a few homosexual men serving? DADT should be repealed merely on principle alone, but in practice, harassment towards the gays, particularly physical harassment, should be dealt with swiftly and strongly. I don't care who you are in the military, you're a soldier, airman, marine etc, and anyone committing crimes of a sexual nature should be kicked out immediately. If the military, especially the Army, would stick to our core values and respect them, none of this would be an issue.
