Funny you should pick on HIV/AIDS, assuming it has some relevance to this topic because it, according to you, is the gay person's disease (even though it's not)... when I and others mentioned a broader category of STD/STIs.

Did I say it was a gay persons disease? I merely stated that people with HIV/AIDS cannot deploy. Now be truthful, what percentage of men have AIDS? Now what percentage of those are homosexual? Theres your proof.

You didn't say it explicitly, but you definitely implied it by bringing it up separately in a thread about gays in the military.

What exactly are those numbers proof of?

As I already stated in other posts, the percentage of the gay population that's interested in military service is decidedly small. Of those, how many do you think have HIV/AIDS?

Blood tests would surely have removed any gay people with HIV/AIDS from the military who are already serving with their sexual orientation hidden, so why is your little exposé about HIV/AIDS relevant to whether or not any gay soldier can serve openly?

The men and women in our military fight to defend your rights to do just about anything within the law. You can even burn one of our precious American flags in the name of free speech, but if one person mentions a conflict, you would rather be walked over than defending your rights. America is in for a sad awakening.

Please provide those percentages. It is not up to us to prove your point in order to DISprove it.

The argument is a weak Glen Beck stink bomb. It raises a ruckus, it is something that nobody wants to deal with, but it has no real substance. In short, it stinks.

AIDS has nothing to do with Gay Men in the service. Blood tests are given and soldiers should have a delayed deployment time depending no how long it would take for tests to detect the infection.

Do not lump one with the other.

And, BTW, before it was seen as the "gay disease" it WAS seen as the Black disease. Both are incorrect and an unfair appelation of an equal-opportunity killer.

We got too smart too fast. Before our biology evolved to the point where we could co-exist on an over-crowded planet, we developed ways to enable one man to kill many.

The flag itself is, was, and should never be "precious". It is an object and a symbol and when people lose track of that and treat it like a holy relic, we lose track of what it really stands for.

Is it disrespectful to mistreat it? Certainly, but in a country where people leave them up in tatters, do not put a light on it at night, do not fold it right, do not bring it in ever, hang it upside down, backwards and on car hoods in a chest-beating show if ignorance it is hard to then listen to these same people calling it "Precious".

And as for being "walked on", that is a laugh. So many times this has been used as an excuse for inappropriate actions that were performed, supposedly, in our own best interests. The key here is defining "our". This is a seperate topic in and of itself.

Simply saying that Human Beings killing each other being primative is NOT an endorsement for not defending our own rights, many of which were made to protect us from the same tyrranies that human nature had wrought in the past in other nations. It is saying that we are still so frigging dense that we can't find ways to spend the money we do to kill each other on methods to extend our life, our health, and our expansion of civilization across this Solar System and perhaps further.

But no, we spend billions on war machines to "defend" ourselves from warring nations in the middle east instead of spending the same $$ to develop Fusion power and giving them the finger (let them go back to being Nomadic).
