It should be noted that this unit supports both HDMI output and VGA. (No DisplayPort, sorry.)

It also supported Win7 64-bit, Win8.1, and Win10.

The main deal is live again so hurry!

What can be done with this rig and is it slow or fast? I have a netbook with Celeron N3050 with 2gb ram and 32gb eMMC flash memory and it's pretty slow when browsing with multiple tabs and multitasking.

Help me out, kinda new to this market. This Celeron J1900 is an Atom based cpu? Total power draw 6W is what tipped me off. quad core at 2Ghz....

Well, I'm currently typing this on a Z3735F Atom quad-core 1.33/1.86Ghz CPU.

It's adequate for forum browsing. Not so much gaming. Unsure about media-playback capabilities.

BayTrail's iGPU isn't as good for media playback as Cherry Trail, with it's updated iGPU.

Edit: If you want an ultimate media-playback NUC, with HDMI 2.0 output for your 4K UHD HDTV, you'll have to wait for a KabyLake Skull Canyon NUC. Probably not until 2017.

For a basic web-browser box, the deal in this OP is probably decent though, especially with 8GB RAM.

Got mine, installed Windows 7, upgraded to 10 and wouldn't finish booting final setup stage until I went into bios change changed from win 7 to with 8.x

Runs great, faster than I thought it'd be.

How does it do with multitasking and browsing with multiple tabs open? I'm hoping it will run better than a dell netbook with a N3050 celeron and 2gb ram.

When I bumped the topic because it was back in stock it came with the Gskill. Mine that showed up today came with Gskill RAM. I looks like it's a bit cheaper now though.

I know that the original combo deal is dead, but Newegg has just the base mini-PC Brix J1900 unit for $99.99 plus $3.99 shipping, on both their site and their ebay store.

I snagged a couple, to play with. Now I'm debating, they only have a SATAII SSD/HDD connection. I had previously picked up some 300GB Intel SATAII SSDs, that I thought might be a good match, but then I starting thinking I might want to do a triple-boot, with Win7 64-bit, Win10 64-bit, and Linux (distro TBD). I could allocate 100GB to each, but that's pretty slim space for Windows.

Would I be better off snagging some bigger SSDs? TLC? I just bought some 240GB UV300 drives.

Something to ponder and watch out for, I guess.

Amazon also has them at that price.

Anyone know what the noise level is on this one?

Got mine last week and its very quiet. Bios says the fan was running at 2500rpm or so 2mins after first boot but I didn't hear it at all. Better than the other Brix I have with two small fans on the side.

I've only run a basic test with a live version of Mint 17.2, seemed to do ok running a couple of tabs of firefox.

Do these J1900 Brix units have both mSATA and a regular SATAII port, or just the SATAII port? The AMD Brix unit had both.

Just the sataII port and room for a 2.5'' drive. The mini-pcie slot has the wifi card preinstalled and it appeared to be a 2.4ghz card.
