the door of the refrigerator or freezer can be opened or closed at any time without concern of directly turning on or off any lights, digital readouts, solenoids, fans, valves, compressor, icons, tones or alarms.

I didn't realize they make kosher appliances.

The refrigerator doesn't shut off, it just doesn't do anything based on opening or closing the door, and it doesn't dispense water and ice.

That is overkill. I understand not cooking on Sabbath, but are people that deficient in self control that they need limits programmed into appliances? That's like having automatic locking system on fridges for overweight people on diets. Even worse, because there's nothing wrong with eating on the Sabbath. Actually, the only regulations concerning Sabbath in the Torah are that you cannot work, in the normal sense of the word. Grabbing readily available food is fine, so I don't see why fridges and the like would need "Sabbath" mode.

That's one of the more hilarious aspect of Judaism IMO. During the sabbath, they can't push buttons or do many other technology or work related things, so they have this industry for "loophole appliances" with buttons that push themselves, etc. Doesn't anyone just stop and think about how God is supposedly a conscious, thinking entity who probably doesn't appreciate any attempt to "get around" his laws? Isn't treating Him like no more than a set of pointless, but unbreakable rules somehow wrong?

It's interesting to me how the concepts introduced by the Biblical Christ really have seeped into our society's collective consciousness. The idea that God cares more about your intent than your action is very (I daresay exclusively) New Testament in origin.

Sabbath mode; overrides the oven's shut-off feature, enabling 72 hours of uninterrupted baking.

My fridge has a Black Sabbath mode, in which Ozzy's voice comments on everything you take out of it.

Read the Gospels. Jesus addresses the hypocrisy of the Jews (not all, but the Pharisees and scribes particularly) in that they created hundreds of laws for themselves not taken from the Torah, but then failed to live up to the standards they set for themselves. They focused on the letter of the Law, but forgot and dishonored the One who made the Law. They forgot the greatest commandment: to love the LORD your God with all your heart and mind.

In those days, if you're donkey fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, you had to leave it there. You were not allowed to do anything on the Sabbath day, even if it was good.
They got all angry at Jesus for healing people on the Sabbath.

Anyone who actually holds themselves to such pointless and arbitrary rules isn't going to be receptive to common sense. I say the same thing - why should one follow the letter of the law if they're not going to follow the spirit? Why should people convert to Christianity just to cover their bases (Pascal's Wager) if they don't really believe in it? Why are there deathbed conversions? Do people really think God will be fooled by such things?

But yeah, to do such things you have to be devoid of common sense anyway, so there's no argument that will convince these people otherwise. For what it's worth, comparatively very few Jews actually follow all those laws to the letter. Most Jews are reform, not orthodox.
