Screw in styles and shorter lamps are very hard to find. You'd have to go with four foot. They won't ship four foot lamps unless you buy a case qty though.

Go look around in lighting supply and electric supply houses locally. Get the electronic ballast there too. You'll get a commercial rated unit. 2-tube commercial grade setup and two four foot lamps is as bright as using eight of screw in fluorescent lamps.

Right on about the electronic ballasts. They're much better than the transformer brick kind, mainly because they don't have nearly as much of a flickering problem (electric ballasts run the frequency somewhere around 20,000 to 30,000 Hz iirc, as opposed to 60Hz for transformer brick ballasts), and they are quite silent.

hmmm...... well, I will go check out some lighting stuff tomorrow. The first requirement is that the lighting is indirect lighting, as in, the light points at the cieling and reflects off. I cannot STAND direct lighting, the glare is awful, and it just drives me nuts. I will see what home depot has along the lines of flourescent stuff that I can mount upside-down near the cieling somehow. Unfortunatly, I can't do anything permanent.

i use reveal bulbs in the bathrooms. more pleasing light over energy savings hehe. rest of house is flourescent
