If you do have birds, and have the toaster oven in a well-ventilated area far away from where the birds are, you'll probably be okay, but we decided it wasn't worth the chance.

Whoa, no kidding! :Q I was drooling like a running faucet and then your comment threw me off. I don't have birds, but the fumes comment is something new and I never heard of that about teflon.

Can anyone say YUMMY!!!

Rotated for a hour on high and the juice you see it straight off the meat nothing but seasonings were added. The plate got like that when it was taken off the rack to be cut. It tasted better then it looked

And that is a small example of what hs come out of ours

I showed this deal to my parents, and they bought one. It is really a nice looking piece of hardware -- you'd expect it to cost in the $100-125 range. Toast takes forever to make, five or six minutes, but it does a good job. The oven uses are nice, though the thermostat is way off (at least 75 deg.). Good set of accessories, and I haven't even used the rotisserie.

Thanks for sharing the deal.

I played with it, but after reading a review i went for a smaller Krups convection unit. I didn't like the comment about the door swinging shut while your trying to get your items out. I like units that pull the tray out when you open the door to save you from burning yourself.....

I will admit we have had the door slam shut on us when we first got it but not anymore. We have learned to open it all the way or if you pull the rack out half way it will hold the door open. Any which way though after tasting what comes out of it door slaming shut or not I wont return it because the food is great and the price was just right for my budget.

Yea, it did look like a nice unit when we saw it. The Krups one i got was only $5 more and it had a convection feature, so i jumped. Plus we dont have a ton of room on the counter for it. But nonetheless, the GE unit looked good.

I have the Hamilton Beach 6 slice oven. I cooks ever thing just fine. This oven wont burn anything if you use it right. A 4lb bird is just a little big. Try 3 to 3.5

It may take longer but I liked it better. But then again I didnt buy it for toast. I mainly got it for the rotisserie feature and the fact I got aot more for my money because it does so much more

I bought one last Christmas for around $50 but I still haven't used it. It's still sitting in the box. I hope it's good.

AH but the one I got has a rotisserie built in it as well. That was the clincher for us and there is nothing like having rotated meat. See 2nd above picture and you will see. It is just like the chicken you see at the grocery store. It comes out just as good if not better and soooooooooooo juicy. It has paid for itself at least 2 times by now. The only thing I dont like much is not having a cage to stick hamburgers in or other flat meat. They need to make somethign for that and it would be perfect.

I was going to order online but decided to pick one up at my local WM after reading moochadime post. Thanks OP!

I really hate turning on the oven to bake a Pizza or a few muffins etc.
Also, with the price of Natural Gas being as high as it is and hearing that it will be about 35% more then last year, I just had to get one.

I just baked myself a Midnight snack.
I made half a pizza and it turned out GREAT!
I used a small sheet of aluminum foil to help with the cleanup of the melting cheese. Other then throwing away the foil paper, I had no clean up. (I sure hate cleaning those pizza pans. Does anyone ever get them completely clean??)

Tomorrow, I will try roasting a chicken ala Rotisserie.

Jesse

Hey Jes I am glad you took the plunge and was able to see first hand that I was not kidding that this tiny little oven for $50 really makes some kick butt food. and I have to agree we are saving a bunch on gas as well not firing ours up either and they have plans of raising the the price of gas yet again.

Let us know after you rotate the meat your thoughts so people can see I am not exagerating. You are about to go to heaven!!! And no joke anything you can throw in there, hot dogs, polish, muffins, cookies, cake, bisquets, if it will fit and needs to be cooked will come out of that thing perfect every time.

BTW where are you placing the foil? The instructions said not to use it because it could overheat the lower element but you can stick the drain pan or a cookie sheet down there . We bake our pizza right on the cookie sheet ourselves and soak it if needed. Better then killing the unit

Sams Club has its big brother for about $59.00, and it has all the accessories too, and it WILL fit the 12" pizzas in it,.
Rotisserie, broiler and all the accessories too. It is big enough to do a 12lb turkey in too.

I had the size one you have for a few years, and just picked up the bigger one a few months ago. I love em both, and couldn't think of cooking without convection now
