whenever the directv guy comes over to do stuff, i'm present... whenever the plumber comes over, i'm present... whenever anyone i don't know comes over to do something, i'm present... it's not because i don't trust them. it's because i want to make sure that there aren't any problems and to make sure that they're doing their job.

good for you.

there were 2 people in the house, why do both of them have to stop and watch him repair their computer?

EDIT: not to mention, you can probably tell when the people doing service in your home are messing up or not, whereas people who need geek squad to fix their PC have no clue about PC's anyways, so they wouldn't know whether they were fixing something or breaking something.

Based on the video, he put the phone in the bathroom and set it to record, then left the room.

I'm the same way - but I'm very protective about my household, so strangers always have company - but then, we run a home-based biz, so there are lots of goodies around to be taken...

Or any stranger in the house. When repairmen come to fix things, I don't just walk off and leave them. Call me pessimistic, but I don't trust someone I don't know to not slip my property in their pocketsses. My preccccioussssss property in their nassssty pocketsses...

(String! Or nothing!)

A Geek Squad employee, Hao Kuo Chi, allegedly used a cell phone to videotape Vasquez when he went to the Fornaciari home on March 4, the lawsuit stated.

"How coochie?" Maybe the video was for educational purposes, so he could learn how it works.

She wasn't the only one home. You don't need everyone in the house hovering over the tech. And how exactly does she look dumb?

I will say she isn't very observant. I'm not sure how you don't notice a random phone in the bathroom, or if someone sneaks in. Unless you don't close the door. In which, well, I have no argument.

And you still haven't realized that many people are at work and can't watch it. I don't login to AT at home, so I won't be watching it later. There's absolutely nothing wrong with asking for details in this thread, since someone will eventually give details instead of typing "watch the video" over and over.

As to the story.... I wouldn't take a shower with a stranger in the house. For a female, there are even more reasons not to do that.

The geek squad guy was an idiot if he left his phone sitting open in her bathroom and expected her not to notice.

What gave her the right to take his phone's memory card out without his knowledge? If she thought she had been wronged, she had the right to call the police, and that's it. Not steal his memory card. I'm sure nothing will happen since she was proved right, but if she wasn't on the card, wouldn't she be getting charged with theft right now?

I'm suprised nobody has mentioned how ridiculous it is to sue Best Buy. Geek Squad, yes, but not Best Buy. If I recommend my dentist to a female, and the dentist yanks the wrong tooth, am I somehow responsible? Actually, that's a bad example, because that screwup has something to do with his job as a dentist. This is more like if the dentist grabs her butt after he's through fixing her teeth.

"OK, it's in the office, I'll be in the shower if you need me."
"Uhh. Hmm. OK. heh heh."

That's pretty hilarious, although I still don't see why the sister was the one who took out the memory card. If she noticed it, why not take the chip out herself?

If your gonna file a lawsuit, you go after the person with the deepest pockets. In this case, that happens to be Best Buy. The bad publicity alone might be enough to get them to settle.

Also, I would love to see this kids face when he got caught. Especially once he found out the "dumb" girls he was trying to tape were smart enough to take out his memory card and keep it. Heads up play.

Well, my guess is, as mentioned, the lawyer's suing Best Buy in the hopes of obtaining a settlement. That being said, with Geek Squad being housed in the actual Best Buy stores, and with the employee (of BB) having apparently provided a brochure for the in-house Geek Squad services, I'd say Best Buy is somewhat responsible for ensuring that these people are decent enough not to tape their customers taking a shower.

Probably because she didn't know how, or didn't know the phone had a memory chip to begin with.
