GeForce 2 GTS 32 mo performances on my system. HELP ME!

I've got a Pentium 3 550 Mhz with 256 mo of Ram and a Asus P3B-F motherboard and I want to buy a GeForce 2 GTS 32 mo from Microstar. But somebody say that the performances of the GeForce will be ordinairy and similar to a GeForce 2 Mx. What do you think ? Do you already runs a GeForce 2 GTS with a similar configuration ? Thanks to anybody who helps me.

well that somebody is full of it. The Geforce2 gts 32 meg uses sgram ddr memory and a 128 bit data path which makes it's memory bandwidth far higher than a GeForce 2 mx which uses either sdram with a 128 bit data path or ddr sdram but with a crippled 64 bit data path negating any advantage ddr sdram would have given it. I have both card in my systems and the gts is definately a faster card in all areas. My gts scores 7700 in 3dmark 2000 at 1024x768 resolution the mx card on the otherhand scores around 3400 at the same resolution. a portion of that difference can be attributed to different cpus but the majority of it has to go to the cards. 128 bit sgram ddr is a huge kick over 128bit sdram or 64bit ddr sdram. Sgram ddr is slightly faster than sdram ddr as well.

If I'm thinking correctly, a 128bit sdram and a 64bit DDR would perform nearly identical due to the "double data rate" 64x2=128 ?

I just bought the Asus AGP-7700 Deluxe 32MB(GeForce2 GTS) from Essential Computers for $177 shipped (3 day).

Now I'm waiting on my new Epox/1G combo cuz my SOYO board won't handle the card!!

Yes and no actually theoretically it would but because of the overhead of DDR it actually performs slightly slower than 128 bit sdram. But we aren't comparing 128 bit sdram and 64 bit DDR sdram. We are actually comparing those to 128 bit DDR SGRAM that the GeForce 2 GTS uses which is actually a little bit quicker than 128bit DDR SDRAM.
