Well, I'm just curious with yours, right now I don't really feel pleased with it

Memory Clock- 166 @ 178.4
Engine Clock- 175 @ 203.5

I can Pump up the Engine clock to 208, but it starts to crash, and If I pump up the memory clock to 183, the desktop starts to look funny.

I Have a Hercules 3d Phophet II MX, And those are the results. I don't know If I'm happy with it, those seem like crappy results. I slapped a Fan on, and I guess it helps a little.

What have you all gotten?

I managed to get my geforce 2 MX to these results using the NVIDIA OVERCLOCKER instead of Powerstrip.

Memory Clock- 166 @ 206
Engine Clock- 175 @ 220

Anything Higher for the Memory clock crashes (even 207). I decided to leave my Memory clock at 175, this is because, anything higher, will give it distorted pixels. So 175 It is for me.

I'm Kinda happy with the results now, but the thing is, Is there anyway I can make it perform at 206, but not have any of those stupid distorted pixels?

Thanks,
Actaeon

What was your real world results, such as fps in Q3? What kind of increase did you see?

Is that Prophet mx a Retail card as it came in the pretty box or an oem card in just the antistatic bag? I ask because there is a difference in them that a lot of people aren't aware of. The retail cards are equipped with 6ns sdram but the OEM cards are only equipped with 7ns sdram making memory overclocks much less successful. Other than that the cards are identical as far as i can tell. If it is an oem card that may accnt for the poor success in memory overclocks. The memory overclocks are where you will realize any real performance boost. the gts core at 180 to 200 really won't speed things up in any measurable way because the memory is unable to feed it fast enough.

Actually Nesud, all Hercules 3d Phophet II MX are 5.5ns ram. And it was OEM.

It depend where you buy the Hercules Prophet II MX Actaeon

as in the UK the offical specs are for 6ns=166 for OEM and 5.5ns=183 for retail.

I've got an eVGA 32MB MX and it runs fine at 210 core/ 185 mem. Anything over 185 and I start to get graphic weirdness in Q3 - actually it runs fine at 200mem, but everything has polka-dots.

I just cut an old pentium heatsink in half and was thinking about putting it on the RAM chips - will that affect how overclockable my mem frequency is?

actually that isn't true. tell that to my friend with the prophet2 mx with the clearly marked 7ns ram I have seen both retail an oem and what I posted earlier is correct. Maybe not all are that way but these certainly were. Have you actually examined the Memory IC's and seen the 5.5 markings? or are you going by what you have read or been told.

correction
It is possible that they are 5.5 retail and 6 oem It has been about 3months since i looked at them but they definately use different mem speeds. The point is still though that the oem uses slower memory.

Well my OEM is 5.5 I decided to check it out. It has the "TC-55" Marking on it. But, instead of being made from Hyundai, Its made my samsung.

<< RAM on the Prophet II MX is supplied by Hyundai and is rated at 5.5ns (marked by the ?TC-55?). This a lot better than other MX cards as it allows the memory to attain higher speeds. >>

Thats from tweak3d.net.

So, I'm assuming I have 5.5ns memory.

seems strange to me that samsung would use the same markings on their memory as hyundai

Yes, and that my ram comes at 166, instead of 183. Yet, I still have the 5.5ns ram. Isn't the 183 just an overclock? Same speed ram though right? Gehh..

Could this effect anything? I have the Dual Display version, I ordered the Normal one, but the guy ran out of them in stock, so he sent me the DD version.

BTW, Update.

I can push my Core to 250 MHZ (yes, thats right, no typo, 250) using Powerstrip, no crashes, or problems.

I can Push my memory to 205 MHZ, But, I get pokadots, and all these funky graphics going on, and no crash. Highest I can go without the pokeadots, ect, is 175 MHZ.

Is there anyway I can get rid of the pokeadots 'n funny colors going past 175? This really pisses me off, considering I want to be able to at least hit 200mhz on my Memory, without any problems.

My own Sparkle Geforce2 MX is not very good for overclocking,
220mhz core
177mhz memory(will go higher but start getting artifacts on screen)
I guess anything is better then nothing, btw using coolbits utilitie.

Actaeon: I have a retail version of the Prophet 2 MX and have no problem getting it to:-
Memory clock @ 195
Core Clock @ 195

I have a Blue Orb on it and have no problems with strange pixels or any image problems at all.
I use the Hercules drivers to overclock. In fact I found the Hercules drivers to be faster and more reliable than the Nvidia ones.
I know the retail cards have the 5.5ns Hyundai RAM so I didn't even check but as for the OEM version I have no proof but if your default memory clock is 166Mhz then chances are you have the 6ns RAM version.

My defaults are:-
Memory clock 183Mhz
Core clock 175Mhz

Most MX reviews tend to pick the retail Hercules MX card as one of the best of the bunch and after seeing a few others in action I tend to agree. Has anyone else had dissapointments with the Hercules cards? I wonder..

My Core can clock to 250 (max on Powerstrip), and 245 without any miscolors 'n stuff. I can pump my ram to 205, but only to 175 without any miscolors 'n stuff.

I stuck a retail 3dProphet in my son's(my old system) PIII. I loaded the reference drivers not the retail Hercules, and manage 210 on gpu, 205 on the ram. Any higher on the ram results in artifacts. I did put an old 486 fan on the HS though.

LeadTek GeForce 2 MX Dh Pro at 220/212. I start to see some "snow" if I push the memory any higher. Overall I'm pretty impressed with it's overclockability.

Wow, bring up my old topic eh?

My core seems to be the fastest, but I also seem to get the slowest ram.. unfortunatly for me, memory is more important than the core.

nice dugr, I run a herc OEM at 235 core, and 176 memory.
I can get the core up to 250 (max on slider), but i get artifacts, and I can OC the core upto 241 with no artifacts (just don't want to burn it out).

I can get my memory up to 206 with artifacts, 176 with no artifacts.
