Hi All,
Ive posted this in the Overclocking forums a while back but got really no response other than RMAying the card. I am running it on an Asus P4S333 with SIS645. nVidia drivers 28.32 on windows XP and the 107 SIS AGP drivers. The MB has onboard sound that works and I am using. For some strange reason the card, when in the AGP slot, it just fits funny, the holes for attaching it do not lign up so I have to leave the AGP slot as the only way to attach it. I have a tandard ATX case and all other cards fit perfectly. Also, the card itself has "Fot limited viewing only" WTF does that mean?

What happens is windows boots up, windows freezes after from anywhere from 30 seconds to 10minutes then reboots. Windows comes up with a message saying that the Hercules nVidia Geforce 2 Ultra caused instability in the system. The card is not overclocked. The system is not overclocked.

I have tried playing with FastWrite and the Aperature size and the (forgot the name) x1 x2 x4. I have tried decreasing the refresh rate. I have tried dropping the colors to 16bit. I have tried 800x600. I have tried miving the "Hardware Accelerated" slider to the left.

Help?
Thanks -max

I presume you mean the screw end where you secure the AGP or PCI card down, anyway have you tried the card in another PC to make sure it`s not faulty ,also disable all video shadowing in Bios as well. I`m also wondering if it could be a power problem, you don`t say what PSU you`ve.

Please rewrite the sentence-it just doesn't make sense..I suppose like Mem said that you mean the card is simply left plugged in the AGP slot and not screwed in the case holes right? If that's true then u might be experiencing power supply problems to the card if it moves in the slot or loses the right pins connection because of it....Try it in a case that fits well and screw it up to see if the problem persists-if it's ok there, buy a new case!

You guys are correct. The case holes dont lign up. Its an InWin A500. The holes dont lign up in any cases I have. Also, the PSU is a 300W Sparkle. What should my 1.5/3.3/12V be at? I didnt look at the other 2 by my 12V statys at 11.72. If the 3.3/1.5 is low, would that do it? I can't try it in any other computer. It was running mainly fine (with only small problems) in the old HP Pavillion 8500. I then stuck it into this new P4 1.6A. It actually ran fine for a couple days with the FSB at 150. One day, I pressed the on button and it sais video card failed. I looked at the card and the fan wasnt spinning. I touched it and it began spinning again. Rebooted and everything was fine for a couple days again. Then this crap happened. I reset all the setting in BIOS to default but no luck....

Also, I was thinking if the card burned out, it wouldnt let me get into windows period and would stop on bootup. But i can get into windows and even play around for a bit.

I can see you've never worked in a manufacturing environment. All in life is not perfect, but you can fold a bit of paper or something to use as a spacer, so you can secure it with a screw. I've had this happen a couple of times, and I just used folded paper.
