GeForce 2 Ultra for $799 us - more than my entire system. This is crazy

$500 retail is crazy. I'm really curious how the V5-6K would stack up (uh, not literally--software-wise ).

But with the next gen coming out in a few months, $500 seems a bit extreme. Still, these cards aren't made for Joe Average.

Its not 700 bucks but it still cost more than a 1 gig tbird so think about that one, matter think about this it cost more than a 1 gig tbird with a motherboard and 128 megs of memory.

nvidia is really getting on my nervs , i'm bying nvidia product since the riva128 , but they are getting hella
expensive , bwaaaaaaaaaahhh , i'll go creazy as soon as i even think about spending 500bucks for vid card , that just plain suck :Q

That's more expensive then my last three video card upgrades combined. Voodoo 1 for $90, Banshee for $110 (month after its debut) and a week ago the Radeon 32 DDR ($200 - $50 rebate). Man I was hating the $200 price tag on the Radeon even though it had a rebate. I don't like it when video cards are more expensive than a motheboard, processor and HSF.

video cards aren't falling because the companies are putting more and more cash into R&D, adding more and more RAM (which gets faster and better, so the price on that isn't falling), and adding more chips (ahem, 3dfx )......so they're rising :/ and might I say.....YIKES 800 bucks is a lot of money. $460 still is, if that's the 'normal' price.

Who cares if it costs more than a 1GHz CPU--they can charge that much because if you're playing games, a video card is more of a factor than a CPU in the high resolutions that pplwho shell out >$200 per video card play at. I think you're video card limited from basically 600MHz on up, right? And they're really not forcing you to buy it; if you think $300 is worth moving from 1024x768 to 1280 or beyond, then that's your problem, not their's .

That's an obscene amount of bread for a video card. Even if that thing turned the room into a true holodeck and winked into existence multiple playmates who serviced me in various diverse ways, I still would not pay more than $350.
