I very much doubt there will be any nvidia product that has a direct transfer of 3Dfx technology.
They may well use a 3Dfx concept in their chip design to gain certain functions, but there will not be anything designed explicitly be 3Dfx added to the chips.
The main reason for this would be simply that both companies would have had different ways of processing things in the graphics pipeline and a combination of the two would mean big changes to the architecture which would mean that those unified detonators would end.

In all reality though, I doubt there was anything that 3Dfx had that nvidia didn't already know or hadn't theorised about in some way.

lol BFG10K, I'd like u to prove the rendering accuracy claim (we're talking the number of rounding errors and things like that).

2) ATi's complete dominance in the 3Dmark tests despite losing across the board in real world games.

lmao, you don't have a clue. the ATi card simply annihilates the GF3 in Dragothic (better HSR I think), and loses a bit here and there in the rest of the benches, except for that Nature mark where it should be kicking some ass, but doesn't (god knows why).

<< Killrose, I also like your idea. Could be a whole new way to approach making video cards.
The upgradable video card!
Socketed GPU and RAM Slots would be great!
With nVidia releasing processors every 6 months, why not!?
Doubt it would ever see the light of day though.

Remember the old 3D video card maker called Rendition? Well they had plans for a upgradable video card where you can swap the GPU. That was almost 2 years ago, I wonder where they are now?

You will never see upgradable RAM on NVIDIA cards because their entire business model revolves around offering 15 variations of the same card with higher / lower memory specs. We all know that increased core speeds look good on a box and offer disappointing performance increases, while memory speed increases are what differentiates these products from each other.

The Geforce 4, from what I hear, is rumored to have 6 pixel pipelines, along with some new features like mpeg2 decoding, etc. It's an expected move. The TNT2 was just a pumped up TNT , the Geforce 2 was just a pumped up Geforce256 with more pipelines and a faster T&L unit. It makes sense that after a major technological introduction like the programmable GPU of the Geforce 3, the next one would just be a more pumped up version of it. Generally these are the best (I love my Geforce 2). They are based on an already well-established technology which already have drivers optimized for it, but merely bring a significant speed increase.

Excuse me? Can you read? I said that ATi dominates nVidia in 3DMark.

What I also said was that in real world games it's the exact opposite. 3DMark in case you haven't noticed, is not real-world.
