I can purchase locally either a PNY or VisionTek Ti4400....which should I get? They are both $299.

Also, can I use an S-Video to RCA adapter in order to connect the TV-Out to my televisions RCA input?

Thanks

I am doing my research for my GF4 also...

I don't have any 1st hand experience.. .but I have read a lot of post where ppl were talking about returning their PNY GF4 for a LeadTek/VisionTek...

I don't know why though.

I ordered the Gainward Ti4400 from NewEgg and I did so much research... The gainward has a lot of overclocking capabilities, has Video In and Video Out, comes with ram heatsinks (which many don't), and is a pretty red color . Overall I think it really is the best bang for the buck...

Review of Gainward GeForce4 Ti4400 Golden Sample

The card is $299.00 + shipping at newegg... honestly I don't you will find a better card. I am very pleased with it...

Link to NewEgg

Unfortunately this card is no longer in stock... it was 20mins ago... wonder what happened

If you can only get the Visiontek or PNY, get the Visiontek. Otherwise you may want to pick up the pink Gainward because the VIVO option is noce to have.

If you are interested in overclocking, think about the PNY. Mine'll do 310/720 with stock cooling (though I have been running it at 300/690 just to be "safe"). Other people at hardforum.com seem to be getting similar results. I haven't seen a report of a PNY card that wouldn't oc to at least 4600 levels, anyway. The Visionteks don't seem to be going as high, though I can not think of why this would be the case (same ram, basically the same design).

I got the pny and took it back because it sucked, so I got the vision tek, it works great, but I have heard a lot of great reveiws on the Gainward, but if you don't want to overclock, the vision tek is great. You shouldn't need to anyways, no games can evan use the power it already has, so why risk it.

I'm a huge VT fan. Have always been impressed by their products. Problem is, they are cheaper, and in this case they aren't. That's usually what they have going for them. I got the PNY and it came with those 3d glasses, but dunno how well they work. No overclocking done yet.

10163 out of the box in 3dm2k1se. I don't think you'll make a mistake going with either card.

Umm, they're the same reference design, same components, same everything.

The PNY is manufactured by MSI.

My ti4400 o/c to 315/660 with no problems.
11642 3dmark.

You won't go wrong with any of them. They are all basically the same this time around.

Luck of the draw, well actually it's luck of the manufacturing week. I have a PNY GF3 Ti200 that overclocks to 250/560, as good as many O/C'd Ti500's, but have also read many posts where other PNY's haven't O/C'd so well. I just upgraded to a Visiontek Xtasy Ti4600, my first VT card. Fantastic card but at first I was dissapointed in it's O/Cing abilities but after more browsing I'm getting what everyone else is, 310/720. Both are good cards. I think Visiontek is a little more consistant with the parts they use and therefore more consistant in what you'll get out of them. Go Visiontek. The PNY, I believe, comes with bundled games, the Visiontek does not.

I just got a Leadtek A250 Ultra TD (GF4 4600) today,

Man these cards are just plain huge... reminds me of the video cards from along time ago. I still have not installed it just yet. The question I have is, do I have to remove all the other NVIDIA drivers.

A250 Ultra TD

Thanks a bunch

I bought a PNY Ti4400, I have a feeling the "wise man" who took it back "because it sucked" found he couldn't overclock as high as he wanted. As far as RAMsinks go, I've yet to see a review that says they help, because RAM doesn't get hot.
I have seen reviews that say they are purely cosmetic.
What to buy? Well, in a few weeks all kinds of reviews will be out that will show every single GF4 runs every single game at exactly the same speed as every other GF4, so I suppose if you run at stock speeds it doesn't matter much.

The Ti4400 just has slower ram chips 3.6 ms vs 2.8 for the Ti4600 hence the 100 mhz diffence of their defaults. Some people have been getting lucky and getting the Ti4400 up to 4600 numbers but if you think every card will do that out of the box, you will be disappointed.

The people with the GeForce 4 Ti4400--how do you like it and is it a worthy upgrade from the GeForce 3 TiXXX ?

Thanks in advance for your input! =)

"is it a worthy upgrade from the GeForce 3 TiXXX ?"
I like it. I suppose if by "XXX" you mean a Ti200, I'd say unconditionally it's a great upgrade. As Unreal 2 isn't out yet, the picture gets more subjective if you have a nice Ti500.
