AGP version requires a unique board design and a bridge chip (from native PCIe) which presumably raises the final cost a few buckaroos but should only be reflected in the price if everyone is able to pass it on (designer, manufacturer, distributor, retailer). The primary reason the AGP is priced significantly more right now is indeed gouging due to higher demand than supply. Don't fret, just wait a bit...

Going with an ATI 9800 Pro

Your selling a 6800 GT and going with a 9800 Pro? Anyway from what benchmarks I've seen the 6600GT beats the 9800 Pro in almost everything plus it's a newer design and technology. I have a 6800 GT on one computer but after reading how poorly the 5900's did in HL2, I decided to get a upgrade on my 2 other computers with 5900's. My only problem is deciding if to wait for another Fry's sale on the BFG 6800's for $250 or wait for more 6600GT's to come out and pick up one of those fro around $200.

Oh no... I got the 6800GTO from my dell.
I'm selling that, and getting it replaced with a 9800Pro. I dont need top of the line gaming. I usually run 800x600 most games.

the 6600GT agp deal is $230 for the card buy.com raised price there is alos a store credit rebate thingy for first time orders knocking off 15 briung total to $214.99 shipped

But honestly the 6800nu is a better card. yes the 6600GT has .11 process vs .13 so it will give off less heat BUT it is 128 bit vs 256. Do not just be fooled by the higher clock speeds, the nu offers the chance to soft mod to 16/6 vs an 8 pipe card.

The 6600GT is a great card even better for Black Friday deal if you can get lucky and score one at 199 but the MIR is yet unknown and that part blows. imho look for a deal on a new nu or a used one it is a faster card overall

newegg also has the 6600GT agp at 225 but is is sold out and now aopen has released their 6600GT. BTW the cards will all be very close to one another as far as o/c ability. If I was to select a 6600GT I would find the cheapest one with most freebies

There out of stock now, but NewEgg had the XFX 6600GT AGP in stock earlier today for $225 plus shipping. I managed to snag one before the stock was depleted. Not the most fantastic deal at $225, but I just sold my ATI 9700 and had to fall back to my Geforce2 GTS until I buy something better.

Provided NewEgg ships today, I should have the card on Wednesday (before the Thanksgiving Holiday)!
