New updated post:
I uninstalled old drivers and installed new drivers, played with BIOS settings. This is now on one of the old NForce 2 machines. The Geforce 6800 will enter Standby mode when doing something like 3DMARK06, it actually makes it through the test but everytime it enters a 3D test the monitor goes into standy mode, when it runs the CPU tests the monitor does not go into standby mode.
I'll try playing with the monitor drivers.
Any other ideas?

I upgraded my kids computers from NForce2 boards to the AsRock Dual-Sata2 and new processors so I could use their old Geforce 6880 AGP cards and RAM.
Computer #1 6800 card was misbehaving a bit before the upgrade so I wasn't too surprised when it kept failing (entering standy mode) intermittantly after the upgrade. I upgraded to a Geforce 7900GS PCI-E and it works great. Geforce 6800 #1 would not work in either of the old Nforce2 machines either. No biggie I thought, vid card just crapped out.
Computer #2 was humming along fine after the AsRock upgrade until recently, again entering standby mode for no reason. I attributed it to the finickiness of the AsRock so upgraded that machine to a Geforce 7900GS also.
Now the ah heck, Geforce 6800 #2 doesn't work in the old NForce 2 machines either!
What the heck? Is there some voltage setting or some weird deal on the AsRock I missed or something? It seems unlikely that 2 differenet AsRock Dual-Sata2 boards would munch 2 different Geforce 6800 cards but that's what seems to have happened.
Any thoughts or ideas to revive the 6800's? I tried replacing the heatsink/fan on 6800 #1 with an Arctic Cooling NV Silencer 5 thinking it was overheating, but it did nothing.
