GeForce 6800 GT Blue Matrix artifacts

PROBLEM:
Graphical artifacts (similar to a blue Matrix(TM) effect) after installation of GeForce 6800GT card. Unable to install Nvidia drivers, because computer restarts halfway through installation process.

Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz (OC'd 3.4Ghz)
1.0GB (2x512) 3500 RAM
80GB Maxtor
SB Audigy 2
Samsung 52x CDRW/16x DVD

Windows XP Home (Service Pack #2, DirectX 9.0c)


DESCRIPTION:
I recently purchased an eVGA GeForce 6800GT and am experiencing graphical artifacts when installing the card. I have attempted to install the drivers, but I am only able to go through the process halfway before the computer restarts. I have read some information that suggests the graphical artifacts are a result of RAM memory timing, but I am not sure how to resolve such an issue. If anyone happens to have any suggestions on what might be causing such a problem your advise is "greatly" appreciated.

I'm not sure how your problem might be fixed, but I justed wanted to let you know that I'm having the exact same problems as you. I received a eVGA 6800 GT as well on 8/18/04, and installed it with its own +12v lead from my Antec 400-watt power supply. When I booted up, even in the POST screen, there were white dots everywhere, and as soon as I arrived to the Windows XP Loading screen, the blue matrix effect appeared. I tried switching my card to another computer, but I got the same results. I contacted eVGA Customer Support, and they told me that it sounded like I had receieved a defective card. So, yesterday I RMA'd the thing back to Newegg, and should be recieving my new one sometime next week. Its definately frustrating to have to send the thing back, but I want a good, working 6800 GT. Anyway, you might want to consider doing the same thing.

I recieved my new eVGA 6800 GT a couple days ago, and its installed and running perfectly at 400/1100 MHz. I guess my first card was simply a defective card. Anyway, that sounds like what you've got. If I were you, I'd RMA it and ask for a new card. That should solve your problem.

Glad to hear that others had the *exact* same problem as me, except I have a Leadtek A400 GT TDH. The local vendor has already issued a RMA so I have hope that a new card will allow me to enjoy the performance upgrade from a 5900XT.
