they look CPU limited even with a 4000+ in most of their tests. I wonder what new drivers are going to do for the performance of this card.

The 7800 3dmark score seems accurate. Compared to games the card seems to have done well in 3dmark05 as far as jump from the 6800 U is concerned.

Rather disappointing Farcry and Doom 3 performance though.

Actually, after reading the benchmarks and launch products, I believe there is something lacking to be desired. I hope there is another ace up nVidia's sleeve; I was hoping the rumors of the card's performance were false but it looks like they have been fairly true. Don't get me wrong, the technology in and the design of the G70 looks amazing, just not up to my expectations. Oh well...I've never been an ATi person, but I will have to wait until the 520 hits the scence to make a decision.

Not too bad so far. The transparency AA looks sweet - now to see some benchmarks for it and HDR as well.

4671 in 3dmark05 with 1600*1200 4XAA 8XAF is not bat at all, compared to the 1009 of the 6800 Ultra, and 8611 with SLI...

the scores arent massive jumps but thats to be expected.....

ive only looked through a hand full and it seems its gonna be hard to actually see what this GPU is capable of...its cpu limited all over the shop!

Poor card is CPU limited in half the tests at 1600x1200. Hmm...run this baby at 20x15?

I can't wait for someone to try that sucker on an Apple 30" Cinema

It looks like Doom3 was the only game that really taxed it at 16x12 4x/8x. Good to see that Farcry did as well though, not bad for a game that's over a year old.

The performance increase is there obviously but it's definitely not enough for current 16 pipe 6800 owners to upgrade. I think the upshot of this will hopefully be cheaper 6800GT's .

No sh!t! Let's do some test runs at 1920x1200 (for the Dell 2405 people) and 2560x1600 ( for the 30" Apple CD people).

Can anyone see what CPU they were using for the tests? It does seem to be CPU limited in a number of the tests. Makes me wonder if an XP 4400 would let me take full advantage of a card like this...

They say they are running a 4000+ Clawhammer.

Is it just me, or is the 7800 losing more FPS(%) than the 6800 from 1600*1200 to 1600*1200 4AA 8AF?

The XP 4400 would be slower than the 4000+ for single threaded games. They need to use the FX-57 and/or overclocked FX-57 to help eliminate the cpu bottleneck

Hmmm, so they are using an even faster CPU (2.4 with 1MB cache vs. 2.2 with dual 1MB cache) than 4400+ X2. Looks like the card could be held back by the CPU for the majority of people looking to upgrade.
