As i have been saying before, the majority of games are CPU-limited unless you are running @ 16x12 with AA & AF.

Right now, i see no reason to upgrade my 6800GT.

Video cards are far ahead of CPUs at the moment, so until they start coding games for dual-core, most of this video card power is going to waste unless you have a 24" WS or sumthin' like that.

Hmmm. I'm going to be building a PC soon and I think I might just get a 6800GT and OC to Ultra Speeds. With this minimal increase the high price (I assume 7800GTX is going to be $500-$600) to me isn't worth it.

Definately not as impressive as the GeforceFX/9XX0 to 6800/x800 jump.

Looks like I'll be keeping the 6800gt until I get an XBOX360, then my PC can die a slow painful death from neglect.

LOL. Yeah, pretty much. I'm in the same boat. I've got a 6800GT and I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of the XBox360.

Alx, someone here or in another forum said their store system showed the BFG and PNY 7800GTXs will sell for $600 MSRP, $505 at cost. Yeah, seems too high to me, but I don't think retail stores do the same thing as online stores (jack up prices for the initial shipments).

I guess that makes sense. So if you don't care so much for AA, I guess you'll get a greater benefit out of this card.

Regardless, its far too expensive.

You two fools can go for it. Console games still suck horribly compared to PC games IMO. All the best titles at E3 were still PC games just like every other year and by the time nextgen consoles are out PC's will have equivalent or better hardware.

Yes, but the Graphics card alone will cost more than the Xbox360...

PC Gaming is not going anywhere. Every time a new console launches, morons everywhere trumpet the death of PC Gaming. This is nothing new.

No kidding, is early days yet. All new cards improve as drivers mature. This card looks like a winner to me.

Something about this isn't right. Look at the Half-Life 2 benches. 68 FPS at 10x7 pure speed? My 6600GT does well over 100FPS constant at 10x7 pure speed.

Something is knackered in their test rig I think.

If this is what the benchies are for for the 7800GTX at $649

Then if they do have an Ultra up there sleeves.... What would the 7800 Ultra cost... $699... maybe $749... Ill be waiting for ATi to bring theirs out, and if they put it at the cost of $649, then well, theyve got a winner. I just hope that nVidia bring down the prices to help the Ultra.

Just read the japanese pre posting and I am really not impressed by the 7800. I didnt see any game the other cards could also play with full eye candy. Only a few resolutions that the other cards couldnt do as fast. It even lost out to the 800xl in a few games. But nothing spectacular to make the card one to buy. But I am a cheapy anyway.

What is the difference between 80FPS and 120FPS at full eye candy?

Play many sports games? They are MUCH better on consoles. And playing next to someone is much easier, and funner than across the net.

Dont be so close minded. Or else you look like the fool.

Hey, didn't you notice that 7800 is CPU limited ?

When it's not limited by CPU it's twice as fast than 6800U.

So if I shell out $900 for an FX-57 or pay equally that much for a good OC rig and a higher end processor my $600 videocard becomes worth it! W00t!!!!

lol, really

I hope these numbers aren't accurate, but I guess we'll see. If it really ends up being this "disappointing" (IMO), then there's no reason to upgrade from my 6800GT at Ultra speeds, and I might as well just buy an A64 X2 instead...
