So after asking around some and fiddling around it does in fact seem that my video card is the problem.

It is regularly freezing either in the process of startup, I cant even manage to finish installing windows. Is there anything I can do about this or is the card just shot?

Thanks

Any more details? (When you got the card, the computer the card's in, the PSU, etc.)

I'm guessing it's an eVGA so you can just RMA it, but that might take a while.

yes it's evga, so is the motherboard

I'm pretty sure it isnt the psu, I tested that out on my other system. I just bought a lot of new pieces for my computer (ram, mobo, psu, video card). Both sticks of ram are kingston and I tried each one individually and in a few spots, same reaction regardless. I got the card earlier this month, because of time constraints it has taken a while to find out this much about what's going on.

I have never had a problem in the past with this type of thing. I know that my dealer does not take refunds after the first week, but they have a year warranty on parts so I assume trading it in would work? Or should I be sending it to the manufacturer?

Huh? Register your card NOW. eVGA gives you a LIFETIME warranty if you register your card within 30 days of purchase. Forget the dealer. Do everything through the manufacturer; that is the whole point of buying an eVGA/XFX/BFG card.

P.S. Even less-prestigious companies like ASUS or MSI should offer a 1-year or 3-year warranty on their cards...you can get more details from their web site.

Hmm I'm trying to get ahold of my place of purchase right now, but I seem to have a problem I wasnt expecting. The video card has some X's on the sticker on it, they were there when I bought it. According to the evga warrenty they wont cover anything with a defaced sticker. These are pretty precise X's though, almost look like a machine made them...is that at all normal or will I have to talk to the place I bought it about this?
