Meh. After I sold my 8800GTS 640MB, I was out around $40...I got a computer game I wanted and more performance so in the end I don't really feel like I got ripped off to bad. Plus, the new gts is coming and I might consider stepping up depending on how things shake out with that.

I could have come out ahead both cash and performance wise if I wanted to wait longer or if I was one of those souls that had the forsight to sell their GTS before the GT was released. I'm just tired of having my computer case open and gutted. (I've been doing projects on it for the last few months...now I just want to zip it up and use it for awhile. )

Pretty much. My 6800 GS (on par with a 6800 GT in most stuff) is still able to perform in today's games - it's just slow online with lots of people. And in Crysis (period).

I picked up two of the BFG OC 8800GT's at my Best Buy with my reward zone coupon pack. You can use the 12% coupon and the 10% coupon which brought the price down to $219 & $224. If you raise the fan speed to 60% you can overclock these to 675 or 700 with no problems at all. At 700MHz my 3DMARK06 score is 13078. Runs just as good if not better than my EVGA 8800GTX did at 1680X1050. These cards are sick as hell for under $250!

Anyone who says these card are shit or cant compete with the 8800GTX's are full of shit. They are just bitter because they spent twice the price for something that these cards can do for under $250. I owned (2) Evga 8800GTX's and just sold them both on eBay after seeing what these cards can do for so cheap! Trust me, get 2 and SLI them for $450 Two of these cards in SLI will destroy a 8800 Ultra.

So how good is PCNation?
I ordered when it said the card was in stock, then the next day it said backordered.

Now i cant login to my account on their site to even check my order status.
And i havent recieved any emails saying my order was filled.

Only thing i got was the order confirmation email when i place the order.
Nothing since.

actually according to our local Bestbuy this card is listed as "As Advertised" on the price tag, but other items are listed as "on sale". So there is nothing that eludes to the fact the price is lower than it was at any point in the past or that its on sale. And there is nothing in the computer that flags the item at the register either. I got one with 12% off no problem. (plus RZ certificates and gift cards out the wazoo enough to make the card $137 after tax - ROFL!

I ordered yesterday from BB and it shipped yesterday afternoon. I don't know what that means for sure about orders placed today, but it's a positive sign.

For anyone who got the eVga 8800GT, and this will probably apply to other cards as well - if you are running high temps (as I was), first do the fan speed adjustments with RivaTuner or nTune as I mentioned earlier in this thread.

But, to get even better results, take the heatsink off, and redo the paste application - on my card, eVga was using a thermal pad, and it was way too thick, and one part of the chip was not even in contact with the heatsink!!! Scraped it off, cleaned it, added AS5, and my temps went down another 5C or so. I kept the memory pads, they seemed to be good, just cleaned the memory chips.

WTF?

Ah and it's back in stock... for those people with money to throw around... sheesh.
I should've jumped on the BestBuy deal but I haven't found confirmed that the people I'm helping build computers want the 8800GT (they do, I just haven't convinced them yet!)

Doubt it.

From Anand's blog....

I've also gotten some information about new 8800 GTs making their way into the channel. Thus far it looks like around 1500 8800 GTs are incoming to a major distributor between now and 12/31. Obviously that's not many cards and they won't even be enough to cover pre-orders, so get in the queue now if you want one and you find a vendor selling it at the price you're looking for. The good news is that I'm seeing 8800 GT prices in the $230 - $250 range, but that's before any vendor markup. It looks like once these things get into your hands you'll be paying at least $250 for them.

1500 is not a lot of cards considering I read somewhere that AMD has shipped 40,000 3850 and 3870's.

With demand the way it is, no way. If you wanted to ask for these for Xmas, have Santa give you a rain check.

Unless nVidia drops a huge number of these on the market anytime soon, don't expect to see $200 for a 512MB stock speed version until Feb at the earliest.

PNY XLR8 GeForce 8800GT 512MB PCI-e 2.0 SLI Ready Video Card - VCG88512GXPB - SOLD OUT!

Funny, it still says they have stock below where it says "SOLD OUT". It let me add one to my shopping cart.

IMHO I would not trust a thing Buy.com prints or tells you because there customer service is abominable.

This is interesting. They are getting 290 MSI 8800GT OC's (660mhz) tomorrow, but they are all preordered. There's 50 more on the 25th and 20 more on the 1st. Also, if you search Froogle for the model # there are a lot of retailers that list an ETA of 11/21 & prices >$240, so it looks like there will be some avaliable tomorrow as low as $233.
