I agree with capitalism, but many of these etailers are pulling fishy practices. Example ewiz on wednesday had the Asus 8800GT for $245. Placed an order and received a call about an hour later that they sold out, don't know when another shipment will come, so the only option they had was to cancel the order (in fact the call was to notify me that they already cancelled it). So 2 days later, guess what, they have them back in stock at $285.
Do you think they new another shipment was coming, and/or realized once after posting they could charge everyone another $40+ and decided to cancel all the existing orders? Think it's to close to plead ignorance on that one.
Either case if people are willing to pay over MSRP you can't blame the etailer.

Cheapest price for the fastest out of the box card.

Not bad and is actually from Amazon

What do u mean not bad?? For a card that's supposed to be $200?

Haven't you guys gotten tired of complaining about the prices? If you don't like it then wait...other people who want the card now will pay more.

8800GT at Best Buy $238. Says OOS everywhere near me and online, but it might be worth a trip to see if they have them in the store. I saw 15% off BFG video cards advertised in their ad this morning, and it has a pic of a 8800GT box but no product description or price. I also have a 10% coupon here but I think they take off from normal price($279)

I'm sure if you can find them in stock BB will let you use their 10 and 12% off coupons on this, bringing it down to one sweet deal

Yep was just about to post on this, was one of the things to look out for once BB stocked the 8800GT. The $237 price on the online site is after the advertised 15% off all BFG cards, however, you can still apply a 10-12% Reward Zone Coupon if you have one.

good luck finding a bestbuy store with the 8800GT in stock. Called into one of the stores today and spoke to friend who's a manager there, according to the system he uses they have none in store anywhere, and nothing listed for warehouse stock. tried to get my local compusa to price match but they wouldn't as none in stock at bestbuy

I wouldn't trust their inventory tracking system.....and its certainly a YMMV situation otherwise. But the 4 local BB in my area (DC Metro suburbs) have had them in-stock every time I've been there since mid-November, even during the pre-BF sale when they were $250.

I ordered on the 24th and they told me today the order has been postponed. Instead of 12/10. it will be 12/12 even though my order still says 12th. Lets see if this this is true. Getting very tired of Dell and their crappy system. If they know that it has been delayed, why can't it reflect it in our order status?

Got my 8800gt. I found it on the dell site for 237 but of coarse it was out of stock. So I called comp usa to see if they would price match and they told me yes and I informed them that it was out of stock at bb they still said it would be ok. But when i got there they said they wouldn't so I complained a little cause I just drive 10 min after calling. They ended up selling it to me. To bad they are going outta business they have always been good to me.

I do have a quick question if I change this crappy fan out it will void my warranty right cause it suxs pretty bad. Gets up to 78c.

Yes, it will void the warranty. EVGA is the only one that allows a third party cooler, AFAIK. 78C is kind of high, but not critically so.

I wonder if you didn't get the revised reference cooler. Compare the fan opening in this review to see if you did or not.

Brock123, what are you using to measure temps? Actually 78C under load is more than acceptable, and IMO there is no reason to change out the hsf. If you were seeing 90C+ then it would be a different story.

I use everest to monitor temps. Yeah I got the old crappy cooler. Wonder if BFG will exchange my card ;-). I took it off auto and set the fan to 55% helps allot. I just played COD4 for about an hour and my temps hung around ~73 but I also oc'ed to 720 1804 965. So far seems like a huge step up from my 7900gs sept the fan noise. I had an iceberg 5 on that one and it was dead silent.

Thanks for the info.

Find out if BFG will be releasing a revised cooler first. I guess it depends on the manufacturer if they will be doing so or not.

Newegg just got some PNY 8800 GT's for $259.99 and Leadtek 8800 GT's for $264.99 in stock. These deals aren't all that hot but the fact that they are from Newegg and in stock makes them somewhat warm.

Looks like the BFG at Best Buy is in stock on line, with shipping and tax $258.62 total for me.

PNY GEFORCE XLR8 8800GT PCIE 512MB VCG88512GXPB at Onsale for $232.99 free shipping AR, listed as in stock but I would call to confirm.

I know they are a bit more (maybe quite a bit more), but 8800GTS (g92) 512MB cards are hitting the online stores this morning. Newegg has four or five brands from $360.

I wouldn't mind if it was $50 price premium on the new GTS, but at $100 difference, it's really hard to swallow. I ordered the BFG from Best Buy. If Dell comes through this week, I'll return the BFG for the XFX in order (cancel or sell the MSI from Dell too).
