Geforce 9400 Chipset and Dell 3007WFP (2560x1600)

I have the following motherboard based on the Geforce 9400 chipset:

Gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2H

I hooked it up to my Dell 3007WFP by DVI and can only get 1280x800 resolution, which would seem to mean it doesn't have dual link DVI. Other posts I have read as well as reviews seem to indicated it was capable of resolution of up to 2560x1600, but I can't seem to find a way to make it work. Any suggestions?

Well, I am about 99% certain that the GeForce 9400 can drive that resolution, the question is whether there is a way to get dual link on that board.

Have you contacted the vendor?

not yet. I hate contacting support for these companies.

Did you update the video driver for that motherboard? Depending on what was the last monitor used with that monitor, maybe the old resolution "got stuck". I would try updating the resolution first before going any further. Most integrated video output should be able to support a high resolution (such as 1920x1200 for example).

Yea, I did a clean install of Windows 7 on the machine and installed the newest drivers. Still the same problem.

Correct. I am using the same cable I was using with my GTX280, which worked fine at 2560x1600.

Yes, the display is recognized in Windows properly.

Binging? it seems to indicate that it should support dual link DVI.

Based on the fact you're stuck @ 2560x1600 though, obviously it is not.

That could be due to Gigabyte being liars, broken nV drivers, broken nV 7 drivers, or who knows what else...

What about in XP or Vista...but yeah, you're likely going to have to contact Gigabyte to see what they say.

Yes, I have tried both places and they each show a maximum resolution of 1280x800

Does the motheboard have 2 dvi ports?
sometimes only one port will support duel dvi.
I had this same problem on my 7950 card with a 3008.
Switched ports on the card and all was good.

In the screen resolutions and refresh rates of the Nvidia drivers have you tried deselecting "Hide modes this monitor cannot support"?

It has one DVI, one HDMI, and one VGA port on it. The HDMI has a max resolution of 1920x1200...something I already knew about.

I tried this, as well as trying to force a custom resolution of 2560x1600

Gigabyte e-mailed me and said it was capable of 2560x1600. I have relented and order a cheap video card to drive the monitor, got a 9600GT for $45 after MIR. Since I'm not looking to play games, this card should do fine.
