9800 GTX:
http://resources.vr-zone.com//...Feb08/25/9800GTX-1.jpg

"VR-Zone has gotten some details and photos of the GeForce 9800 GTX (G92-P392) card. It comes with 12-layer PCB at 4.376" by 10.5". This card is clocked at 673MHz for core and 1683MHz for the shader while memory clock is yet to be determined. The memory interface is 256-bit with 512MB of 136-pin BGA GDDR3 memory onboard. It comes with two DVI-I and one HDTV-out. There are two SLI connectors and two 6-pin PCIe power connector. The card employs the CoolerMaster TM67 cooler where the fan is rated at 0.34A, 4.08W, 2900rpm, 34dBA. The total board power is 168W."

1. This card has 1.5" more lenght..all that for one extra SLI-connector?
2. Why does this card have 25W bigger TDP compared to 8800 GTS 512 now that they are almost identical in their performance? +25MHz for core and now this card needs two PCI-e connectors when original 8800 GTS 512 needed only one.

I'm waiting for this card, but those specs aren't what I would call impressive...Neither are those pics...

I hope the end result is a lot better than this...

Man..I'm still crossing my fingers that this will perform at least 20% better than an 8800...

Thats Awful its a smaller leap from something like the 7800gtx to 7900gtx and theyve created a whole new series for a chip thats already in the 8 series

ATI come on we need a winner to kick start Nvidia again its even worse than the 5 series when it was released

haha lets hope it doesn't bomb.

you can notice the heatsink there doesn't work because once the card is turned on it cannot be re-used.

Well, bad news for PC enthusiasts, good news for me. It means my $200 8800GT was a good investment.

If this what is coming, then I don't want it.

I'm starting to think 9600GT SLI again...

AND...

Why does it have ONLY 512MB ??!!

Where are the GT200 specs.? Seems a lot of gamers are skipping the 9 series anyway because they want something that will compete with the R700... Which isn't an 8 series refresh..

G100 specs are in some of Nvidia's facilities and production factories [since R700 and G100 has taped out..]

Hmmm, I forgot where I read the review but isn't the 9800 GTX using 1 gb of GDDR4? 512 of GDDR3 doesn't sound right if you ask me.

The 9800gx2 has 512x2 (1gb) that is the only place i've read 1gb on the new 9xxx series.

My only hope from this whole mess is a bigger price drop on the 8800GTX's..Im not really aiming for the 9800's as the reviews haven't been that great on em.

Who knows, I could maybe spring for an 8800 Ultra

But 512mb of GDDR3? Give me a break, even 8600 GTs have that much memory, no conceivable way they would have their enthusiast model card be the same as last gen. Even if it is only 512, it should at least be GDDR4.

Oh and one other thing, why the hell would they make the 9800 GTX have only 512mb of GDDR3 when the 8800 GTX has 768mb. I doubt the validity of that review of the stats on the 9800 GTX.

you guys are retarded if you think this card is going to perform like an 8800GT or GTS. the 9600GT has only 64 shaders / 32 TMUs, while the GT has 112 shaders / 52 TMUs, and the GTS has 128 shaders / 64 TMUs

yet the 9600GT is practically on par with the 8800GT and not too far behind the GTS. imagine a card with 128 of the same shaders that the 9600GT has and 64 TMUs. I think we are looking at almost double the performance of an 8800GT. This is not the same core that's in the 8800GT and GTS.

and if this revised G92 core is going into the GX2 as well, boy thats going to be one heck of a card. up to 4 times faster than a stock 8800GT. my only grip is that quad SLI will probably suck donkey balls again, and that 2 GTXs in SLI will end up being the fastest graphics setup again.

anyone recall the 7900 series, sound familiar?

PS. I am still shaking my head at the 256 bit bus and 512 MB memory. all this graphics horsepower will probably get destroyed at high resolutions.

I hope you're right! If so, I'll buy it, and get back into gaming!
