The FX5900 only beat 9800 pro because it cheated on drivers on the benchmarks, go to tomshardware and read the review. It also used a prototype card that , isn't the same card your buying for $449.00 nvidia is going downhill, while ati continues to advance higher to the top. I used to be a hardcore nvidia guy too. As far as quality of graphics ati dominates textures and game quality.

Whoa... Let us get this straight. Nvidia is cheating AND Ati is also cheating. Futuremark (3dmark) says both companies are cheating and yea Ati admits to cheating. I bet they would'nt have admitted if Futuremark didn't start investigating if they were. Well, Ati promises to not cheat anymore but this is atleast the 2nd time they have cheated, last time it was the cheating on quake. Get it straight, both companies cheat.

Sorry about my other post saying it might of been an ok deal. I just found out that the msrp is $400 so this is not a good deal. Plus after that mistake between the picture and the text I would preorder this card from somewhere else like bestbuy and then you could probably get your card faster by driving to the nearest BB.

Whenever there are "standard" benchmarks, any company will try to optimize their drivers to make their cards look better in those benchmarks. It's just smart business, especially considering that most consumers aren't as educated as the average anandtech forum reader. The perfect example of this is the whole AMD vs Intel debate. I've heard so many people ask me wether or not an AMD system "works the same way" as an Intel system.

The simple fact is that both the 9800 and the FX are running neck and neck as far as benchmarks go. Honestly, the differences in real-world performance are, more than likely, barely noticeable. I find it silly that people will nitpick over which card will run at 110 fps and 120fps at 1600x1200. (obviously, I'm exagerating here).

And just to stick with the topic... 419 for a card that has a MSRP of $500. Great deal... if you have the money for it. Regardless of wether or not you like Nvidia or ATI.

odd analogy, but the proportion is correct. Bottom line to end this debate, this is NOT HOT. Don't know how any price over MSRP could be...

Ok, this isnt a debate on who cheated on what, when how and/or why. Please take those comments to the other 438 billion threads on forums across the net.
That being said, this would be a great deal, save the picture of the 5800 on the ad. kind of makes you wonder

even ignoring the sanfu with the add, the card says 128mb, whihc is the $399 MSRP card. You may be thinking of the 256mb card which has an MSRP of $499.

The way I understood it, the 5900 that has 128 mb ram is the plain 5900. The 5900 ultra only comes with 256 mb ram, so something in the title isn't correct. Either way, the site is unclear, but its nice to at least see the cards showing up, even if its only preorder (I doubt they're in stock).

From Warp2Search today...
Name: Radeon 9900PRO / GPU Core: R360
Clock Speed: 420Mhz (Bit of guess work there though it would seem reasonable)
Man. Process: 0.15µ (TSMC will have massively matured this by now - better high clock speed yields)
Pixel Fillrate: 3360MPixels/s

Too bad there IS no R360 core. The next ATI core is going to be the R400, unless you're telling me that they have a core that's not on the roadmap and that nobody has really heard of.

Hey doofus, read the post right. From WARP2SEARCH... uh that must mean its a tech site. And come to think of it, even the 5900 is a paper launch at this point. Its all speculation until you see the real release. Duh.
