LOL!!! 2x 8-pin on the Zotac 1060 is high comedy. Because, you know, the 120W card needs to be able to cleanly get over 300W, just in case... Pretty overkill.
Coming in >10% above GTX 980. Of course Pascal does better in DX12 than Maxwell, but still boding well for this little chip. Equal to RX 480 in DX12, faster in DX11, 30-40 less watts in power consumption, and 30mm2 smaller.
time spy results mean little for actual dx12 games
So can we only plug 1 8pin on the zotac 1060 for example and still use the card fully?
I saw some article about a gigabyte 1060 but it's tripple slot. Anyone know why it would need such cooling and take up that amount of space for a mid range card? I'm pretty sure gigabyte may do the same with a 480. But I've always wondered why if they are not super powerful to begin with.
Now why is that?

That's what I've gathered over the past few months reading on what I should buy. Even if the 1060 is faster by 10-15%, I've seen amd cards come out to do well for themselves down the road. We're almost there. We need to see Vulkan/DX12 paths in Battlefield 1 and Civ 6 to really get confirmation on AMD's lead in next gen API's. There is no denying there is a strong indication that AMD will improve performance and a multi-year trend data that nVidia will do the opposite and actually regress, but time will tell.
I know certainly that if I was looking at an AMD card and an NV card both priced near eachother and both performing +-10% of eachother (totally indiscernible) then I would DEFINITELY go with the AMD card. nVidia's recent cards fell off and AMD's recent cards drank from the fountain of youth, its that simple.
Do we know what time these will go on sale or when reviews will be posted? Usually by the time I finished reading reviews for the 480 everything was sold.
I'm assuming FE and AIB will be available tomorrow. If only FE then the launch of the rest could have better stock if they prepared well.I am wondering how availability is going to be for this. If they did infact move up the launch its going to be scarce for a good while.
Reviews will come out around 9am eastern as that's when the NDA lifts. After that newegg usually has them on the site by 12pm est. Or sometimes earlier depending on when stock is updated.I just picked up a Rift and am suddenly in the market for one of these. First time wanting a video card fresh off the presses, so how does this work? Will these cards be up on websites first thing tomorrow morning or do they just kind of trickle in around the net?
I may just hit up the 1070 instead if I can find one for around MSRP.

It's hard to say, based on how quickly the 1070/1080 sold, they could. But nvidia had them back in stock randomly a week or two later. You can try using nowinstock to alert you when one comes in.Thank you sir. I guess I'll keep a tab on Newegg and see if I can get lucky. Do you know if the FEs go quickly on NVidia.com? I'm willing to spend the extra $50 assuming I don't get one at $249 (which I feel is highly unlikely).
Dang, those prices... I know it's EU and they get smashed due to taxes but this is freaken ridiculous for a mainstream GPU.
