Thanks for your help. I got it done tonight! It took me a bit longer given I didn't have a very good pair of tweezers. I think it was actually this weird screwdriver with a spike on the end that I used to get it out, but it still took a while. The only other part that took a while was finding screws to attach the radiator to the case. I didn't see any screws that seemed like they were for that in the little bag as the only large screws were the heatsink screws. I ended up finding some in a random collection of screws, but then I found out a common complaint about the Hybrid system: the fan is noisy. Fortunately, I've got a bunch of fans lying around, and I'll either go with a Corsair SP120 or a Noctua NF-P12.

Yeah that little spot to get to the fan power cable is so tight. My tweezers were a gift from the wife when she got new ones (designed for plucking hair or some crap, so they have amazing grip, long and narrow.)

I swapped the stock fan that came with the original Hybrid kit 980/980 Ti with a Corsair SP120 too. I don't think I ever used the stock fan of that kit but I do recall it being an issue to the point EVGA changed the cooling algorithm and fan with the updated 1070/1080 Kit. Since I gave the wife the 1080 FTW Hybrid I slapped the stock fan from that model back on and it isn't an issue (at least for her or I).

As for the screws to mount the radiator, they don't include screws for a push/pull setup. They intend for you to screw the radiator directly to a case so the screws were tiny black screws with washers. Works fine if you don't go push/pull, and from my own experimenting push/pull is overkill for the CLC unless YOU need <40c temps.

May the OC Gods shine on you if you're aiming to overclock as well.

@moonbogg

This worked for me to unlock voltage control with MSI AB:
http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/geforce-gtx-1080-ti-review,32.html

Without voltage mod best I can do with Unigine as my benchmark was +125/+450.

Going to try +50mv and see if I can hit 150 stable.

EDIT:

Yup, I got the lemon. Core can do no more than +150 even with 100mv. It takes +50mv to get +150 stable versus stock volts for +125.

Memory I pushed as far as +450, @+475 I started to get artifacting. I also probably don't have the best memory cooling setup.

I think I'm going to settle on +125/+250 @ stock volts. Performance gains above weren't worth the extra strain on my system in my opinion.

Twas fun, I enjoy the trial and error of it all, even if I got a lemon haha.

I was able to get 2125/6050. Anything more and it was just insta crashing. I backed it down to 2100/6000 as I could do that on stock volts.
Tried playing wildlands yesterday and at 4k I'm hitting an average of 44fps seems like the game is very poorly optimized. Mass effect Andromeda seems to hit 60fps more often.

I settled on 2088, pushing in more voltage for like 20 MHz is not worth it. I haven't really pushed my memory clocks that high, I'm at +299 right now.

Card is running stupid cool though. Playing Dishonored 2 tops me out at 42 C lol.

Yeah it's crazy how cool this card runs when paired with a proper waterblock. I've never seen mid 30s load temps on a high end GPU and I've been water-cooling for many years.
Dishonored 2 runs very well, I may do a second run as corvo

Mid 30's is crazy. My temps skyrocket clear into the low to mid 40's. Terrible. Absolutely terrible.

Do we know when the first aftermarket cards drop? Think I'm going to get one, I was thinking about slapping an EVGA hybrid kit on a FE too though...

Sucks going from a 2,050mhz GTX 1080 to a 1988mhz GTX 1080 Ti.

Sometimes my sarcasm detector malfunctions so please put me out of misery and tell me that's meant to be sarcasm. Because if not...

....that being said: yeah, these consoles are only 2 years old, and back at a time when 1080/30p really wasn't all that hard for a midrange PC dGPU to accomplish.

PS4 and XBO came out in late 2013. 3.5 years ago.

When 1080 was released, it was about a month after. However availability was hard to get. But the good news is that everyone has posted pictures of cards they are making so prob be soon. I'm waiting for the EVGA one.

No sarcasm. I'm not disappointed with my card. Just my last two Nvidia cards were golden samples kissed and handed to the FedEX guy by JHH himself (that is sarcasm ).

My 980 Ti hit 1500+ on stock volts. My 1080 hit 2050mhz on stock volts. My 1080 Ti can't even hit 1988 on stock volts .

Not the end of the world. Loving running WoW @ 5160x2160 without even breaking a sweat (if only they'd fix their CPU bottleneck.)

My 1080ti is scheduled to show up tomorrow and I'm pretty stoked. I'm grabbing. 980ti hybrid cooler to slap on it and I've got a question for the guys that have installed one, how tight have you tightened the screws down that hold the pump on the board?
I once killed a 290x with a NZXT g10 and a corsair AIO, I think I may have tightened it down too much and thermal expansion once the card ramped up cracked the chip.
I'm pretty good with hardware and I've been overclocking/modding since the Celeron 266A needed nail polish on a pin to hit 100mhz FSB but this is the first time I'm apprehensive about something like this due to recent experience and the cost of the Ti.

Man, these things are not like car parts where the nuts and bolts can be overtorqued to some extent. When I hit some kind of resistance, and cannot turn any further without use of force I stop. These components are delicate and easy to strip or crack (if you're working with acrylic).

Yeah, I generally feel that way too and I've installed tons of coolers on various CPUs over the years but the 290x was the weirdest thing. Installed the G10 and AIO, powered it up everything was fine, low idle temps. Fired up Heaven benchmark, ran for like three seconds and I heard a pop and lost video. Took the cooler off and there was a crack in the die, dead GPU. Only thing I can think is it was too tight. I'm guessing with the EVGA kits where they use the stock screws and are designed for the nVidia GPUs that it wouldn't be possible to over tighten without seriously trying to do damage.

EDIT: I don't know why I never looked it up after I killed my card but it turns out there are a few posts around from people killing 290/290x's with the G10, the screws are apparently to short and put too much pressure on the GPU without overtightening. I feel much better about the Hybrid kit now.

Gonna assume EVGA's kit used some kind of standard based on the height of the GPU. But as for tightening, my screw driver set has a palm rest, which allows me to turn the screw driver using my thumb, ring and middle finger tips. Once I can no longer screw freely, I stop. I also assume the springs on the screws are designed to prevent any damage, either way, don't go all Herculean on the screws haha.

I didn't go crazy with mine either. I think the screws got very, very slightly below the backplate before I stopped. I'd say as long as you can't shimmy the block around, you're fine.

I was concerned I overtightened my block screws as well. The reason for the concern is because I used a socket wrench and with the leverage they have, its easy to use more torque than you normally would with a regular screwdriver. So I was afraid I tightened too much by accident. Actually, as I was installing my water tubing, I heard a loud, sharp crack sound come from somewhere. I thought the GPU die randomly split in half. Any ways I did something right because it works, lol. But yeah, with $850 worth of GPU and water block going under a warranty breaking socket wrench and screw driver procedure, its pretty normal to be a little nervous I think.

Anyone else playing Mass Effect at 4k with the TI? I hit the high teens in a few cut scenes which just seems atrocious. I think I'm averaging 40-45fps in this game with some dips in a few cut scenes. Changing "hbao full" to hbao seems to have improved performance quite a bit.

I noticed at 1440p my FPS goes from 100 to much lower during cutscenes depending on how much of the characters are being shown. Just a head shot will give much higher FPS than full body.

Bumping down shadows from ultra to high also seems to help quite a bit. I'm now seeing a lot of 70s with dips to the 40s.

Just built my X99 system with the 6800K overclocked @ 4.3GHz
Instant boost in Time Spy score by about 1000 points and 9406 score

TimeSpy 9406 Points

Will make some gaming comparisons as well to see how much my 4790K@ 4.6 was a bottelneck
