Geforce GTX 1080 Ti now official - Faster than Titan X ($699)

Well it turns out my Asus Strix OC is fine. I don't know why it was exhibiting pretty rough FPS in Battlefield one. Even in other games it was not getting what the benchmark graphs showed in reviews. One thing I did this time was to turn off Xbox App Game recording in Windows and not install Geforce Experience.

After a clean windows installation I am getting very nice performance on stock clocks. My fps doesn't linger in the 60-90 range any more it seems. I get an average of 100+ in Battlefield 1 on Ultra at 1440p. For example what fraps recorded:

I had already done a clean install before because I had the Gigabyte Card but I guess when windows update installed a major update that changed some things and the card was just not performing as advertised for the OC Strix edition. So I just decided to install windows again after that major update.

Damn, if I had known I would have walked over to Microcenter and had gotten one. I see it's @ Amazon for $1,020 but I'd have to pay tax. I see there's a 3rd party(fulfilled by Amazon) for $1,029 with no tax but not sure I want to deal with returning to a 3rd party if it has any issues.

sze5003 - glad your Strix is running good now. I don't think I've ever touched the Xbox app, hope that's not a factor in my poor performance. Well, I've RMA'd my Gigabyte Aurous Xtreme and supposed to get my EVGA FTW3 on Thursday. Hope I have better luck.

I would have loved to have the ftw3 but the fact that they messed up their shipping and supply means they lost out on some customers. Hopefully the one you get shouldn't cause any issues. Be prepared though, you may or may need a clean windows install if your windows 10 updated to the anniversary update or whatever it was. I think that's what was causing performance issues with my Asus.

Yea auto for me too gives it medium settings. I think this is normal. I just manually set mine to Ultra using the first slider there in the advanced settings under the graphics options.

My guess is last time it defaulted to ultra because of the optimization through GeForce experience which I did not install this time around.

I don't know what that does to games but it messes with resolution scale, changes other settings and it was causing me performance issues.

Tried out some ghost recon wildlands. I get about 90+ fps on 1440p with the very high setting. Average measured by fraps was 86.

On ultra I get around a little over 60 depending on the area. Average was 62.

Totally playable on ultra but I may just stick with the very high setting becuase I'm not sure what settings to turn off on ultra mode to increase my fps.

Overall a fun game it seems just that it can be repetitive and getting somewhere takes forever. That and mission can be failed for the smallest things. Then they re appear somewhere else on the map which is annoying.

You can turn down shadows and textures to high and you should get a smooth 60+ at 1440p. The game is extremely repetitive and I got bored of it very quickly. It's more fun if you have friends to play it with.

Thanks I try that and see how it does with on ultra with those custom settings. Yea it is repetitive but the customization is pretty cool. I'm just annoyed at how easily missions can be failed and how they repair randomly at different locations on the map.

Question for Pascal owners regarding voltage. I've been reading a bunch about how voltage is restricted. I assume that means the +mV settings we get in programs such as Afterburner? I also assume the Power Limit adjustment is still available in case it needs to draw more than allotted.

So assuming those assumptions are correct and this is about core voltage, how restrictive is it? Is it just a very limited range of +mV setting? Or is that completely locked down and non-adjustable?

I can't seem to move the voltage on mine in the Asus gpu tweak tool. It is locked and I tried in afterburner to unlock it but it still would not move the slider.

I may be missing something but I wasn't sure so my guess was that it was restricted for some reason.

It is locked by default in MSI afterburner. You can easily unlock it by adding your GPU to the database used in the software. Just Google it up. My voltage allows me to slide it from 0-100mV

Interesting that's the part I missed I guess. I don't need to OC mine but it's good to know for the future.
