Holy s*** man. That is crazy. All that GPU power and not custom water-cooled though?

These cards are fast!!! I think I need a PSU for the 2nd rig though...

I'm honestly not even impressed. You have a Western Digital Hard Drive in that rig... lol.....
What's wrong? Couldn't afford a server!?!?!

Lol...

Please tell me you are getting a 4k 144hz g sync screen when they come out.

You were the one stating (incorrectly) that the 1080 had worse price/perf ratio. Sorry facts don't agree with you.

Yes Pascal wasn't much of a change over Maxwell but they did run with much less power and also included async compute which has good gains over Maxwell in DX12. Or does power now that matter? So hard to tell with the moving goal posts.

You do realize, that is still worse price/perf right?

Yes, compared to the Titan XP it is much better value... because its a price drop of that same chip.

There are no improvements just a price drop. The cooler isn't better and still throttles even though they claimed its the best one yet!

It would be more accurate to say "There are no large improvements over the Titan X" but there never are from the Ti products. (and really you can only say that until the custom cooled variants launch as they will likely offer 5-10% more performance out of box)

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/foru...nvidia-gtx-1080-ti-performance-review-17.html

The RAM is 10% faster and the card runs a bit cooler over time, maintains fps better.

I don't buy cards very often and usually don't spend this much, but I'm getting a better tax return this year and am considering this. Looks like a good card at a fair price, likely 100% due to Vega leaks of better than 1080 for less leaks.

Hopefully Vega launches by time I get the cash so I can compare.

Could someone run a quick test for me please?

What framerate range do you get when you run Rise of the Tomb Raider at 2560x1440 and maximum graphical settings on DX11? So VXAO enabled etc. In Geothermal Valley area of the game, as I think that's the most demanding visually.

What the hell is Tapatalk? lol
It's an app I use on my smartphone. It's groups all forums you are a part off into 1 spot. This makes it easy to reply back or follow threads instead of navigating to multiple websites.

did taptalk fix how bad it got. there was 1 update that was so sh** i stopped using it
I don't know which specific updates you're talking about, but it is worse now than I started using it.

How an app can regress in functionality is beyond me.... How do you actively make something worse....

I'm tempted to pick up one of these 1080 Tis, but if I did, I'd want to go back to water cooling with one. The issue there is that I'd end up spending another $150 to $200 to get a new radiator and a better top + reservoir combo to fit my smaller case. It makes me tempted to wait for the third-party coolers next month.

Going to be a lot more than 150-200 for all that My waterblock was $170 or so shipped, new rad is going to be another $70-100 or so depending on what size you get and new pump top/res is going to be another 100-150.

I see you've kept the ASRock X79 Extreme11.

Hey bud! Long time no talk!

Yea, the ASRock is in my 2nd rig. Was thinking of just doing SLI but I figured wth since I want to really push 4K/5K @ 144Hz or more (awaiting that much-hyped Asus 4K 144Hz monitor).

Here's a shot of both rigs: http://bit.ly/2ngFore (dusty as hell but who cares? we use them right! )

You planning on getting the 8K monitor from Dell? Looks like it's delayed (again)!

LOL.. I have a 15TB NAS for storage but I run a couple of SSDs in this particular rig and the WD 2TB is for local storage -- mainly screenshots etc.

Oh yea, I'll be getting the 4k 144hz gsync when it comes out - most likely 3x for 4k 144hz surround!

For some reason, I forgot about including the block even after looking at them on Performance PCs. It didn't seem too bad though... about $120 for an EKWB block. Fortunately, I have two D5 PWM pumps lying around, which is about an $80-90 savings. But yeah... the cost of jumping back into water cooling is why I would probably be better off getting an aftermarket... or maybe something like the EVGA Hydro AIO-based cooler.

Although, the reference coolers can usually be converted to the AIO coolers.

I had to leave home early to swing by Microcenter and exchange my 250GB 960 Evo for the 500GB. I missed the driver by 30 minutes . So card is on my front door step waiting for me.

Having a huge blizzard in my area so chances are I'll be staying home tomorrow. Which means I get to set it up tomorrow. Hopefully I don't lose power, do a clean system installation on my new M2 drive and go from there.

@Water cooling.
EVGA's design seems to fit all reference cards with little to no modifications (if you want to use the shroud, then you're stuck hacking your stock cooler a bit, don't recommend.)

You can see Nexus Gamer installation videon on both a GTX 1080 and GTX Titan Xp. The route I'm going since I got a 980 Ti Hybrid cooler that will be removed off my 980 Ti before I put it for sale.

Both of those systems look great. I use a Metro DataVac on mine every few weeks to keep the dust out (I'm a bit of a neat freak).

I'm probably going to be 2-Way SLI from now on, so 4K is the max for me. I moved the PC into my living room to do gaming on a new 70" 4K TV with new speaker system. It works really well. Probably going to keep it like this for a while.

Nice AdamK47. I'm so tempted to use one of my 4K TVs as a computer monitor.
