4k is fantastic. I can noticeably tell a difference between that and my 1440p secondary monitor. I think only a 100hz ultrawide 1440p Gsync monitor could compare to the experience you get at 4k. The TI is also good enough to push 4k/60 if you don't go crazy with the settings.

I reserved a pny 1080ti founders at microcenter and was wondering what are your thoughts on the brand. I can always cancel the pickup.

I just noticed the 1440p monitor I have is now closed to $5-600. I was wondering if Dell had an equivalent edition of that monitor but 4k..So far I have not seen it.

I pre ordered a ftw3 right now. Going to stick with that unless the Asus strix OC model comes in stock.

If you're getting 4k, make sure you get gsync though especially since you are getting a 1080 Ti. It might be pricey but it's worth it. I don't have gsync and I have to deal with screen tearing.

Yea down the road maybe by summer time I'll think about doing that. I'll have to sell the current monitor though but that shouldn't be a problem selling it here. I'm sure someone will want to buy it seeing how I still have the original box and everything.

I thought Dell announced a 4k version of my monitor but I don't know what happened to that.

so i got the pny and I have to say the blower style fan is not as obnoxiously load as some may make it out to be. Granted aftermarket is more quiet but I cant find any true faults with it, plus it has no coil whine. It heats up pretty fast but since its boost clock is still above its guaranteed ill cope with. Probably just use it until an aftermarket comes out and just exchange it for one but as of now while not super happy, I am contented. The difference in performance was even noticeable when I launched Tomb raider and the selection menu did not lag like it did with my 980ti. 4k seems nice but without gsync smoothness is not where i'd like it to be but i don't feel like using it on my 1440p gsync monitor just yet.

That looks better, I think it's higher than what I got when I had that card.

I had a chance to preorder the ftw3 again yesterday but decided not to thinking one of the other cards will come in stock.

I'm curious too how Witcher 3 will perform. I think you will get all ultra defaults now in bf1.

Ugh, this has been a disaster. Finally installed BF1 and it's unplayable. The screen just flickers non-stop and is in some weird coloring. I put the 1080 ti in silent mode and removed the overclock on my Ryzen 1700, no luck. Changing settings doesn't make a difference and when I'm able to get it into Auto, it wilo only give me Med settings. GeForce Experience tries to optimize it to Ultra but I know if I could get it to run well. Thinking of uninstalling video drivers and starting over. What POS experience this has been.

Do you have another card to test out in that system? I'm betting your card might be unstable too. It's the only thing I can think of unless you already did a windows clean install.

Just bought the Asus strix OC edition. I still have my ftw3 preorder which I'll probably cancel soon. Hopefully this time I don't have any issues.

Yeah, I still have my R9 Fury and my old 8800GT. I was able to play with poor performance with the 1080ti with my 3700k. And yes, I've done a complete clean install and was hoping to do much better. Just ran Firestrike with 1080 ti in oc mode at 1746mhz and Ryzen 1700 at 3.7ghz and I'm only getting 18526. Uninstalled with DUU the new Nvidia drivers and loaded the prior set that I was using the 1080 ti and still same problem. Ugh!

That's so weird. Do you think it's your CPU? I can't think of anything else that could cause bad gaming performance other than a cpu bottleneck but I would imagine ryzen can't be that much bottlenecked even though it's more of an optimization processor and suppose to be good for encoding/decoding and number crunching as opposed to just gaming.

I'm going to run my benches and bf1 when the Asus card arrives and I'll let you know if I have a similar issue. I'm hoping this time I get a stable card.

My GTX 1080 Ti has a horrible coil whine. Even with vsync enabled. Is this typical? I'm sending it back regardless, but should I be hopeful the replacement is not as bad?

What model? Some of the Asus members stated theirs had coil whine. I once had an HIS card that was so bad I had to send it back. My last card had a little that I didn't hear most of the time.

Mine has bad coil whine and it is normal. You will very likely get coil whine on your replacement as well. Luckily mine only whines when frames jump over 100fps.

This one. There are no actual reviews yet, so I thought I'd ask here.

If that's the case I'll just stick with my whine-free 1080.

Yea there are only 2 reviews and they are not useful. I think most models do have some whine. My EVGA 1070 did it when the fps shot over 100 but it wasn't very audible.

A few of the gigabyte users also complained about some coil whine.

It was extremely annoying at first but I'm used to it now. The TI is also the first high end card I've owned that has coil whine, leading me to believe it might have been my PSU. Changing the PSU didn't do anything unfortunately so I've grown to live with it

I tried both a Corsair HX750i and a EVGA P2 650W. Both had the same whine for me.

I don't want to grow to live with it

Resolved the screen flashing issue. Stupid Teamviewer!!! I installed BF4, similar issue in full screen. Decided to uninstall stuff and after removing Teamviewer, the flashing was gone. Now, I had Teamviewer on my old system but when I reinstalled it, in the Advance settings, there an option to ignore alpha blending. I need to have this checked(which is was not) for the flashing to not occur. Now, BF1 will still only select medium setting in Auto. Hopefully, will get the EVGA FTW3 next week and if it performs better, I'll RMA the Gigabyte Xtreme(either get a refund or replacement card which I'll sell). Ugh! Will still try and figure out why I'm getting poor performance.

My psu is a Corsair 750w something. It's been a while since I built a new system, will play more when I have time.

You can't fool me.

It is plain to see your card is 2db louder than a GTX1060 or R7 260X. I heard you gaming last night at my house!

http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/64...-iceq-x2-turbo-video-card-review/index14.html

According to this, the R290 IceQ I used to have is 2db louder than a R7 260X as well. I wonder if that is why I didn't really notice the difference when I got my EVGA 1080 Ti Fe?

I have no doubt it's louder than some other fans, but it's not overly loud for a high end video card. (at least in my opinion)

This morning there were quite a bit of aftermarkets available. I picked up the Asus strix oc but I was waiting for the evga model. I've been without a card for about 3 weeks now so I figured I'll just get the Asus while it's in stock.
