Just saw that Warhammer Dawn of war 3 is being offered with Asus mobos and GPUs. Did you get that bundle? I can't wait to play it tonight

No my offer said ghost recon wildlands or for honor. I wonder if I can contact Asus and get that code too.

Resolved the screen flashing issue. Stupid Teamviewer!!! I installed BF4, similar issue in full screen. Decided to uninstall stuff and after removing Teamviewer, the flashing was gone. Now, I had Teamviewer on my old system but when I reinstalled it, in the Advance settings, there an option to ignore alpha blending. I need to have this checked(which is was not) for the flashing to not occur. Now, BF1 will still only select medium setting in Auto. Hopefully, will get the EVGA FTW3 next week and if it performs better, I'll RMA the Gigabyte Xtreme(either get a refund or replacement card which I'll sell). Ugh! Will still try and figure out why I'm getting poor performance.

My psu is a Corsair 750w something. It's been a while since I built a new system, will play more when I have time.

Getting better performance now after adjusting the Resolution Scale on BF1. Mine was set at 175%. Supposedly 42% is native resolution. But even are after changing the resolution scale to 42%, I'm only getting 80-90fps in Ultra. Note, after playing around a lot, Auto now selects Ultra settings. But this card should be doing better. My EVGA FTW3 supposedly ships out on Monday. Will play around all weekend, install so other games and if it still under performs, I'll RMA it.

I kind of want the ftw3 too but I don't need two cards. It was hard making a decision yesterday to wait for my preorder to ship after 5/8 or just buy the Asus but I couldn't justify waiting 2 more weeks.

I thought the resolution scaling of 42% = Native was from Beta and was fixed at launch so it's now 100%.

I'll check what my scale says when I get home but I'm on Intel graphics. Not sure if that will change the scaling.

Curious... why do you think an RMA will fix that specific issue?

I think the default game settings for this card is ultra. His is defualting to medium. When I had his card mine were also ultra defaults and I was getting over 100 fps in bf 1 at 1440p. Not to mention my version of the card was very unstable to begin with..would crash on stock settings unless underclocked.

Thats bizarre. I'll admit that I'm not up to speed on all of the different flavors of mid-range cards like the 1080 Ti.

I don't consider the 1080ti mid-range. My 1070 was mid range. When you pay close $800 for what most of the time is someone else's whole computer, like most of my friends, I consider it a high end and of course enthusiast for the titan and titan xp or whatever the new one is.

The 1080 Ti is not mid-range, the 1080 could be considered midrange/high mid-range. The Ti is just a few % short of the new Titan Xp that only exists to milk consumers and keep the Titan name afloat.

93% of the shaders and 92% of the memory has of the fastest card money can buy has never been considered mid range.

He's just having fun.

The performance of this card is abysmal when it should be outperforming my R9 Fury card which it doesn't. sze5003 and a number of people have had to RMA their Gigabyte Aurous Xtreme cards due to a number of issues with the cards. I should have been able to plop this card in after uninstalling my AMD and installing the Nvidia drivers and have it run like a champ. Even after building a new rig and performing a clean install, it has been running like crap. I've been tinkering away with only modest improvements.

So I exchanged the fe for a a gaming x but while it's definitely quieter performance remains the same. Plus I got another code so now I can redeem for honor even though ubisoft games run like crap. Also im not sure if anyone can help me solve this but whichever card I put in my case runs hot, granted I don't have a fan curve set its quite annoying to see the card for up in the 80s others hit a wall at 72. Should have waited for evga bit I'm impatient.

How much boost clock did you gain from getting the Gaming X? That's one of the things I argued in my thread about the Titan Xp and 1080 Ti reference cooler. GP102 has a nearly flat performance scaling after a certain clock speed is reached, presumably due to shader efficiency topping out. So aftermarket coolers don't really give that much of a performance increase over the reference cooler (about 5-7% on average), which is always above the stock boost anyway from my experience.

@Carfax83 1886 was the boost clock started at 1949, 1924, 1911...1886 but I guess the card was running hot so it is possible to drop to like 1835 or so but because I was not running tomb raider for long I can't tell which clock it would have settled at. The 1080 version also had a similar type of clocks too. Noise was much improved but I don't know if because the fan is on automatic why it's getting so hot, although the fan kicks in at 60

@tg2708 have you tried to set a custom fan profile? Or maybe in the software change the fan from Auto to always active. That usually would help keep it cooler than 80C.

So I decided to pick up the Acer x34 Predator Gsync monitor from microcenter yesterday (they had a decent sale on it). Ultrawide + GSync = gaming bliss and no more screen tearing. The 1080 Ti is so much more comfortable at this resolution vs 4K. Settings can now be maxed out and still easily achieve ~80fps. My 4k monitor has been delegated to video viewing only tasks now.

He's a Titan XP owner right? So ya just having fun =D

@ddogg
IMO, you never had a 1080Ti. You don't have a 1080Ti unless it's being used on a gsync monitor. You have a midrange card then =D (Couldn't help it!)

Is that a 1440p monitor? I was looking at the 4k version which is $1200 or something like that. Almost got one but then I figured it costs more than my Sony 4k TV.

Personally, I don't understand shopping Nvidia GPUs if you think Gsync is expensive.

Just a matter of if I want to spend that much for it or not. I'm fine with the current gsync monitor I have now. I don't really spend all day on my PC so justifying that for the monitor itself only getting some gaming use every now and then didn't make sense to me now.

I'll probably get it later if I want to upgrade to 4k.

The ONLY reason I get Vega+Freesync, Is I don't game enough to even justify getting a freesync monitor. I RARELY game. I enjoy following the hardware far more. Vega+Freesync is the cheapest way for me to build a "high end" system that I absolutely don't need. My minimal acceptable level of quality for things is high =D

Same with me I've been spoiled running things on ultra so now I can't go back. Freesync is the cheapest way to go but at the time I was looking to upgrade the rx480 wasn't going to do to better than the 1070 I had at 1440p. If amd had a similar card to the 1080 or 1080ti at the time I was switching monitors I would have went freesync.

Im waiting on my Asus strix oc 1080ti but in the future if amd comes out with something better I may sell the current monitor and get a freesync one but that's not something I'm thinking about doing anytime soon.

I'm hoping one day we won't have to be tied to a brand due to monitors because I'm don't have any brand preference when it comes to Gpu's. I buy what will give me ultra or high settings at the time I feel like upgrading based on whatever resolution I plan to game at.

The only time I won't care is if I make a lot more cash.
I'm just not a fanatic. I see the value of going Nvidia. I think both have good value depending on what you want.
If I actually gamed a lot, 1080ti no question.

I'm done with ultra everything, but now I want 4k or nothing lol. And if I could get to 8k.... I would!
