Let's hope this fix resolves the TDR issues. I haven't really had any but I don't have chrome installed.

Note this, the old 560ti was notorious for TDR's, I waited for fix after fix that never solved anything. Hopefully this new 980ti won't end up like that.

So far no TDRs with this driver. I used to have them "reliably" when running Chrome in background and beeing in some game. Hopefully it's gone for good now.

Woah woah, what finally caused me to snap and play Frankenstein with my rig was I had perhaps 20+ TDRs in one day.

If this finally fixes this my decision to go with Nvidia another round is definitely more pleasing.

Still no TDRs, awesome job Nvidia! System is finally rock solid after several shaky driver releases.

Is this the current preferred driver for a 980 ti? Mine doesn't arrive until Tuesday, but I figure I'll do a complete driver wipe and reinstall and I want to get something stable. Should I go for this or the last previous known stable driver?

TDRs with chrome running in the background?....I have to say as a network engineer, the amount of time chrome has caused issues!....or are we not allowed to say anything negative about chrome?.

If you use Chrome, yes. This was so bad it actually made me go to Firefox, but now the problem seems to be solved with 353.38

It wasn't just in the background. Simply websurfing on Chrome was causing a driver response issue before. Now it's fine.

Never had that issue with Chrome (or Opera - also Webkit) and the previous drivers with a GTX 780 @ stock. Funny how some do and some don't.

Yup, Nvidia even had a call for members with crashing setups on their forums. They were willing to go on customers place and collect data. Still, when it was crashing, it was uber annoying ...

Kinda off topic; but, have any of you noticed not frequent but more crashes than you'd really like to see in games in the 900 series cards? Maybe its just my card, I have some issues at stock and forget any oc. I can oc the card well into the 1400s easily with no artifacts; however, damn at the game crashes. The other thought I've had is that I downloaded the the infamous samsung firmware onto my 850 pro. It seemed to take it just fine; but, couldn't any instability in that drive firmware potentially cause instability with games given the streaming that is used these days. I'm just frustrated with the performance with my rig as of late in general i7 haswell 4770 non k 16 gigs gskill 1866 9-9-10-9-28 (rated speed) 500 gig 850 pro 128 gig 830 4 tb black msi 980 gaming running at whatever stock is. Thanks for any input. Tried cc cleaner and drivers are up to date. Sorry for the numerous grammar errors; but, writing is not my strong suit, I'm an accountant. Edit: What is a TDR?

Forgot to mention this and I'm not sure if the distinction is important. The crashes I get are not the "driver has stopped responding" kind. Mine are always the "xxx program has stopped working and windows is looking for a solution" or an outright semi-freeze that results in me having to sign out and back in.

Depends on the crash. If the game crashes to desktop due to an Nvidia driver error, it is coming from the card. If it is a BSOD, it is likely, something else.

Thankfully its not the BSOD. At desktop the system is quite stable; however, in games it works but I am seeing more random crashes on games than I'd like to see. I suppose I am thankful that at least the rig in general does work and I CAN generally game on it. Just may have a crash every 2-3 hours, not the end of the world I suppose. I installed this hotfix driver. Lets see if that ups stability at all *crossing fingers*

Ah, didn't see your second post into after I had posted mine. Is it any particular game(s)?

Of course it happens much more with modern games; but, even crazy things like mass effect 3 will crash once in a blue moon. I did just notice something most odd. I applied the hotfix and put afterburner back on. My card will not tolerate AB at all. I set it up with no changes to clocks or power and tried to run Watch Dogs and some other things. Not a chance. As soon as I turn it off everything works dandy though.

It's 100% AB. You need to use OC Guru II and use the minimum voltage offset and bump it up by one tick. IIRC it's 0.025V. 970s have a weird voltage table that makes the driver crash when it boosts the core clock faster than what AB can raise the voltage to (so I hear, I'm no expert). Do this and you can keep your old overclock at 1400mhz or even higher. Mines running at 1500 np when I used to crash at even 1400 like you.

Well, I didn't see your message; but, I downloaded precision of all things, which I thought was basically AB. Now everything is rock stable at 1433 and i could probably pump it higher. Perhaps Precision doesn't have that problem. I'll give oc guru II a shot, cause precision sucks.

guru worked 100%. Thank you so much, this has been such a pain. Now I can run all my games at 1460 at least and they are rock stable. This is the card I wanted now.

Yeah EVGA Precision has the same problem. I'm honestly surprised at both companies for not fixing it as its been an ongoing problem. Even nvidia dropped the ball with these last drivers. I'm still on 347.88 and see no reason to update as I prefer stability over all else like everyone should. I'll update on the next WHQL.

I'm just still on cloud 9. My pc responds now like my titan pc did at all times. Quick responsive in both desktop and gaming. I haven't seen a single crash since even at the hard stuff like W3 and even batman: ak lol. That's running a nice 1450 oc. After literally months of trouble shooting and even swapping some parts I'm finally to a point where it is basically plug and play.
