but, why did anand cool the core if he says it doesn't yield but a 2% gain and then not cool the ram when it is responsible for a 20% gain?

Not much point in overclocking the MX core if it is so hobbled by the RAM. Your bandwidth to RAM simply isn't enough to take advantage of the default clock speed let alone an overclocked core.
