Geforce4 On AMD 1.3GHz Sys.?

I noticed an Athlon XP rig with a Geforce4 TI4400 scores significantly higher than the same rig with an Athlon 1.2 or 1.3Ghz on quake3 benchmarks (160FPS versus 220FPS or so). I'm wondering if upgrading to a Geforce4 TI would be worthwhile with my somewhat slow 1.33GHz athlon. Are tomorrow's games going to be more CPU than GPU dependent? Or does it remain unclear?

Thats the way its starting 2 look 2 me cause i have a 1.4 t-bird and i get from a 6200 to a 6900 when other systems with athlon xp's getting almost 9000 or above

You could always upgrade the rest of the system later, you know.

The Athlon XP has SSE code while the regular Athys dont, thats the main reason why there is such a big performance gap in games.

That depends on what games you play and what detail levels you use in them.
In any case the Ti4400 will totally demolish your GF2 Pro and you'll see a significant difference between the two.

I have a 1.33 T-bird and I went from a Geforce2 ultra to a ti 4400 and I noticed a considerable difference. I'm proof of what BFG10k was saying. Especially if you have a Pro. It just depends what your needs are. You defininetly don't need 200 FPS (except for braginn rights). You could do one of 2 things: buy a GeForce4 now and then upgrade your CPU later
when the new tbreds come out.(thats what I'm doing) or you could wait and get your cpu first and then wait for the new
NV30 chip.

I originally had my Ti 4400 running on my K7S5A/1.4 Tbird system. Before that I too was running a MSI GeForce2 Pro. Besides gaining over 2000 points in 3DMark2001SE, I think the biggest benefit was being able to run FSAA on all my games now at 1024x768@32bpp. However, at standard 1024x768@32bpp w/ no FSAA, the extra FPS didn't make that big of a difference since my old GeForce2 Pro was sufficient.

Thanks for the comments, I think I'll hold off as one person mentioned there isn't that much of a performance increase running in 1024x768 without FSAA.
