Here was a link on slashdot.org

http://www.techspot.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3978

Excerpt from it:

[TS]: What will the price of the Geforce FX be at launch in Europe and can we expect to see the card at Swedish retailers?
[Nv]: The price will be around 600 Euros (around 640 Dollars). Since it?s only around 2% of the market that this card is aimed at it?s price is justified though it?s exclusivity.
The card will at launch only be available in very limited quantity and is aimed at the enthusiast market. At the end of February will the first cards be available in stores.

If this is even remotely true, these preorders are a good deal.

From what I understand, this pre-order is the NON-Ultra version, which will offer among other things an option for 256mb ram and increase in output to 300million triangles.

Of Course, i could be wrong, but I hghly doubt Nvidia reps would tag the card as so expensive only a short time ago and then lop close to $200 off the price.

Looking at the benches on tomshardware--I'm pretty disappointed. The dustbuster is the worst part of the deal though; the noise is simply unacceptable to me. I guess the real hope at this point is in better drivers and a refresh of the hardware in the next quarter? There is no question it is the fastest card out there, but the noise and sacrificing a PCI slot are really asking a bit much for a video card. Just my opinion....

How stupid is this comment, for Christ Sakes its still Vaporware and not even released yet! I'd prefer Nvidia'a prompt driver releases to ATI's ANY DAY!

I guess the fanboy fest couldnt be avoided

Lol. I'm sorry but scroll up and someone said he was disapointed with the same results. Also, here is a quote,
Radeon 9700 PRO cards are only slightly slower, and, because they've been out on the market for months now, they're much less expensive.

Good deal, but my 4200 will be just fine for another year or two at least. For me, $400 is better spent on car repairs than upgrading a component in my system that works just fine.

FYI, Anandtech reviewed the GeForce FX in this article today and concluded that the 9700 Pro is generally faster (it concludes that the GeForce FX is "able to outperform the Radeon 9700 Pro by 10% at best but in most cases manages to fall behind by a factor much greater than that").

Ouch, that hurts. Plus Ati is coming out with a new card pretty soon.

I like Nvidia stuff...but why do peeps get upset if someone else thinks FX sux? Who cares. If you like it, fork over $400...if you don't...buy a 9700pro. Case closed.
BTW...I was VERY disappointed in all the reviews I've read concerning the FX card. Looks like Nvidia is going to flop big time with this dog. (hehe, that should rile some people up)

I have to agree, I was VERY disappointed with the FX benchmarks that were released today. I've been using a NVidia card since I got serious about the components in my computer. Had a TNT, GF DDR, GF2, GF3 TI200, and now a GF4 4200. I'm definately going to be waiting to see what the R350 looks like.

The whole dustbuster thing is pretty annoying too. Plus, it won't fit in the Shuttle XPC I plan on building. Could we be witnessing the beginning of ATI pulling far ahead of NVidia? We'll see.

On another note, I think it's funny how every NVidia fanboy I've spoken to tries to talk about features and immature drivers. Kinda reminds me of the days when the Voodoo5 came out
