So I know I work in a bit of a bubble but I've been seeing this more and was curious if others have too. For those who don't know its a new practice of putting your preferred gender pronouns in your email signature so people know how to address you, ie "she, her, hers"

Of course people who work at Universities seem to love email signatures anyway. I've gotten some that list each degree they got and by institution. Most recent example (with names changed)

Behavioral Biology, B.A.
Johns Hopkins University
Pronouns: she, her, hers

Interesting, haven't seen this before. I'm accustomed to the massive sig blocks, between academia and tech. Gotta love folks that list all their stupid 3-5 letter certs in their email sig, like it matters

Liberal retards are new to you?

Don't get me wrong, sane ones exist - this forum being somewhat of an example - but Universities are essentially the crazy house for them. Going into the liberal arts building is like walking into a holding cell. They will immediately surround you and tell you about your micro-aggression and tell YOU how YOU should address other people - and how what you're wearing is a gentrification to society.

Also, it's pretty much been proven that the ACTUAL people who would be affected by something like a pronoun are typically the least likely to care. Same goes for other yuppie liberal practices like... complaining that the Redskins is offensive to native americans. Polls have been done - majority of ACTUAL native americans don't give a shit - it's just stupid liberals in search of finding things offensive, wherever they can be found.

I've never had an email signature. I just type "- <name>" at the end of all my emails.

Then again I'm not important and don't want people coming to my house, calling me, or knowing all this bullshit about me that doesn't really matter.

We just got a directive to simplify our signatures at work (~100k people). Name, Title, Contact, Company. No need to name all your accolades.

Pronouns? Why don't we start specifying obese vs pregnant? How about mood too? Wait, emojis!

You'll all care when the SJW's and Outrage Brigade get the government to make it illegal not to use someone's preferred pronouns.

Check out California Senate Bill 219. Workers at senior centers must use the preferred pronouns of residents. If they willfully and repeatedly do not the offender is guilty of a misdemeanor and is subject a fine of up to $1,000 and up to 1 year in jail.

http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=201720180SB219

New York City's "Human Rights Law" also makes it illegal to intentionally and repeatedly not use someone's preferred pronouns and is punishable by a maximum of $250,000 fine.

https://www1.nyc.gov/site/cchr/law/legal-guidances-gender-identity-expression.page#3.1

While refusing to use someone's preferred pronouns makes you an asshole, it should not be a crime. If a care worker refuses to accommodate a transgender person then that facility is free to fire that employee. They shouldn't go to jail for it.

More laws will be coming.

Other languages have gender neutral pronoun. It's like 'it' for a person.

If you are writing a novel in English and you wanted to portray a mysterious figure doing stuff - there isn't an elegant way to say what the person is doing without revealing the gender, i.e. 'he took out his gun'.

Or you have to use 'they' which is actually a gender neutral singular pronoun. But it reads pretty awkwardly.

Yup my mom who's from Hong Kong has been here for over 40 years and still has problems mixing up he / she. Their equivalent is basically "they/them".

It's a transgender thing. For those who identify as non-binary they will use "they" and "them".

California and New York City. That figures.

And you're not really an asshole for not using someone's preferred pronouns. That's more PC excessive pressure.

Meh. I think asshole is appropriate since if I continually called one of my male coworkers "she" out of spite, I'd be an asshole, too.

But being an asshole isn't against the law and being "offended" doesn't make anyone a victim.

My work e-mail signature is just my first name after a hyphen. Everybody I work with already knows where I work and what I do/am, so I don't feel the need to put my company name, logo, address, phone, fax, cell phone, and title on there.

As per wiki:
Gentrification is a process of renovation of deteriorated urban neighborhoods by means of the influx of more affluent residents.[1][2]

Damn I hate it when my shorts open a coffee shop in a shitty neighbourhood.
