Meh. I think asshole is appropriate since if I continually called one of my male coworkers "she" out of spite, I'd be an asshole, too.

But they change their pronouns and add to them frequently. Trying to keep up with how all of these people feel and whether they are he or she that day is not my problem. My daughter is having to deal with this at college. If a non-binary wants to be known as them or they and you refer to them as he or she then you are on the shit list with them. That's bullshit.

But being an asshole isn't against the law and being "offended" doesn't make anyone a victim.

But then you are bullying other people.

I forgot about those. I think it's actually "Xee" instead of "Zee". They just pronounce the X as a Z. This is according to my 19yo in college.

Never mind. I just looked it up and it's "Ze". My error, I'm sorry.

I ignore everything below the message body. You wouldn't say a bunch of bullshit after a phone conversation, so you shouldn't put it in writing either.

I have seen people put it in front of their name, but listing it separately? That's just weird.

I wonder if these people have the "can I speak with your manager?" haircut.

I'm fine with calling somebody by their preferred pronouns as long as I get to stick with genuine words. I'm too old to deal with made up crap.

You may go to jail someday then. Canada, the United States, and the UK are all adopting laws that make not using preferred pronouns illegal. It's starting small, sometimes at local levels, but there will eventually be a push that if you don't refer to your long, pink haired coworker who wears dresses and has a five o'clock shadow and a dick that considers himself "pixie kin" with the pronouns fae/faem/faeself that you are guilty of hate speech.

Yeah, "other kin," people who think they are a non-human soul trapped in a human body, are a real thing.

Yeah this stuff is getting so ridiculous it's not even funny anymore because it's actually starting to affect laws. Completely insane. Not sure why the government caters so much to SJWs. This whole thing is pretty much on par with flat earth theory. It's like making it illegal to tell a flat earther that the earth is round.

That's not what a pronoun is for. It's not there to define what a person is down to fine details. It's there to make the language work. You may as well complain that a table is feminine in French.
I'm fine if Kevin (who is six foot four and 110k with a huge beard ) wants to wear a dress, be called Charlotte and be referred to as a woman. I'm actually fine with the state paying for gender reassignment surgery and basic plastic surgery for her as well. I also think that Charlotte gets the same rights and privileges as everyone else and doesn't get treated differently at work than everyone else.
That doesn't give Charlotte the right to butcher the English language though. She gets to pick he or she. That's how English works.

All words are made up.
language
ˈlaŋɡwɪdʒ/
noun
  1. 1.
the method of human communication, either spoken or written, consisting of the use of words in a structured and conventional way.

Your name is there to refer to you specifically. The pronoun is just there because the English language needs one, stop trying to use it for something it's not meant to be for.

This neither refutes what I said, nor does it reinforce your argument.

Well "all words are made up" isnt an argument. It's a fatuous statement that doesn't really mean anything and doesn't convey a point.

It's pointing out that your not wanting to use a word because it is made up is absurd. If you can't see that, you're being willfully ignorant.
