General LCD question: Defects? **PICTURES**

Not sure how to describe this, but I just got 2 LCDs and they appear to have areas on them where the color is NOT uniform.

By this I mean that it appears that when you pan in a game or are looking at it it is almost like they are "depressed" and do not match color with the rest of the screen just right. It wil about the same as going from #0066FF to #0066CC--mild, but noticable.

Are these defects? Now that I am looking closer both monitors have them and they are ssquarish and about the same places on both.

I have checked the monitors this morning and the marks are still there.

They look similar to the effect I get if I slightly depress my laptop LCD. The odd thing is that they appear on both monitors in almost the same places -- but in reverse.

LCD 1 = 2 squarish marks on the right, one on the upper left.

LCD 2 = 2 squarish marks on the left, one on the upper right.

Anyone have an idea if this is normal?

I can't see how that is normal and that would drive me nuts. Maybe they are depression marks from the packaging but if you are not happy then send them back pronto.

Definately a defect. Did some more testing and it is REALLY bad in games, especially dark games (e.g. end level of HL2).

Contact Chiefvalue, but I have to wait for a resonse. Anyone else have a return experience with Chief? How was it?

RMA quickly!

thats not really a dead pixel thing so you should be able to get them replaced.

Yeah I am RMAing them...

The problem is Chief is making me pay the return shipping (almost $30... every other RMA I have ever done the company paid for it) and I wont be receiving new ones for at least another 2 weeks Not really the way to treat someone who paid $700 for something and received 2 (of 2!) broken products.

On top of that, they want to ship it the same way as before. That means if they did not damage them they were damaged in transit. What shuold make me thing they wont get banged up again? The marks look like some sorterpushed on them.

So basically I am paying even more than I anticipated and having to wait 3 weeks total to get them. No fun. Oh well, I guess I will make a "ChiefValue" signature about the service I received.

Thats one of the pluses of dealing with Dell on LCD's, For the first 21 days you can send a good 4 of them back and forth and Dell will foot the bill.

I'd be pretty ticked off.. I ordered an LG 1910BK from mwave and mine arrived in perfect condition, thankfully. That definitely looks like shipping damage. That's pretty shady that they're making you pay return shipping on something that's not your fault. It'd be different if you decided you didn't like them but the product was not defective. However, you're returning defective merchandise.

And that is why I told them why I was not paying return shipping. Even WORSE is they want to send me "REPAIRED" monitors. I paid $700 for 2 NEW monitors. Sending me refurbs is wrong.

They came defective. Not one, but both. Since when is it right to make a customer pay for a manufacturing/shipping/stock defect? I paid $700 + shipping (4 day). Now they want me to wait 3 weeks and pay extra for something I should have already recieved?

So I told them either send/email prepaid shipping slips and expedite the new monitors back when they get the defective ones OR I would pay them $698 for 2 new ones, they ship those with return shipping, and when I send back the defective ones they can credit the $698 back to my account.

Either way is more fair that what they want to do. But if Chiefvalue.com does not answer by this afternoon I will be contacting my CC company and letting them know the shaddy business going on. Send me broken monitors, make me pay to send them back, and then send me refurbs?

Every company I have talked to in the past when something like this has happened has been more than accomodating. I had a $500 box of books from CBD come once where the package was ruined and most of the books were damaged. They overnighted me return shipping labels and then sent me back the same books, NEW, ASAP. And they were more than happy to help out because I was the customer and not at fault. Same goes with the very few tech returns I have ever had. I got a broken CDRW a few years back when I bought my system components and the place was more than helpful.

I will reserve my full judgement of Chiefvalue.com until I I hear more from them, but so far I am not impressed. Hopefully they will change my mind and show me they are a customer oriented company.

Naaaahhh No fvcking way.....You do not get refurbs...

You tell them you will get 2 never used monitors or you plan on filing a report with the local BBB and any other agency that will listen....

Then you call Hyundai (america) sales reps and let them know what is happening...

Sidenote: It is not uncommon for ppl to pay the rma shipping....I had to with an AMD XP cpu that amd was replacing...I had to do it for a Radeon 8500 from Newegg, and another GF4mx.....

Do NOT send them back to Chiefvalue! The enclosed warranty card from Hyundai Imagequest America specifically states that they will replace your displays with brand new displays and they will pay shipping both ways. This is for DOA displays, and your is just that. If your displays are bad within 30 days of your buying them, HIQA will replace them, period, no charges to you.

I bought mine (L90D+) from ebuyer.com, but I didn't contact ebuyer when I discovered that mine was "DOA." I'm dealing with HIQA exclusively. Ebuyer is a PITA to deal with, anyway. No phone numbers you can find, just their screwy online "enotes" system.

The pictures you linked look almost exactly like those posted by bdubya a few days ago in this thread. Check it out. Call HIQA at either of the numbers on the warranty card. They will send UPS out to your address with shipping labels complete with an RMA number.
