i remember he was also praising the CPS mag2 pump.

that thing was absolute crap.

But i really liked DFI Street. It helped me out a lot back in the days.

Then shutting down was probably my reason i stopped lurking on this forum.

Anyhow Gill Call me tomorrow. i'll walk you though the bios settings. I think i know what your messing with or not messing with thats causing you problems.

no idea. doesn't matter IMHO. If I can't set it to "fail safe defaults" and get this board to boot, I'm not gonna fight with it. I'm not an avid tweaker looking for max oc's anymore. A decent oc that works is all I want.

It's not the boards fault by any means. It's probably a mix between the bios settings and my cheap hardware. This board deserves a better home, i'm too low brow for it.

I have an NF3 250 GB and an NF4 SLI-DR Expert right now.
I love them both. DFI makes great boards all around but they are especially nice for folks who like to have control over their system.

What do you all think about the DFI LP LT X48-T2R LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail ? It seems that the X38 model has disappeared from NewEgg's site, I guess I had better grab two of the X48s before they disappear too.

Stay away from DFI.

It's basically exactly the opposite of what you need.

A good cheap Intel value mobo or Asus value mobo would suit you very well, & some you money & hassle.

And Gillbot, seriously, it sounds like you have a defective board.

I wasn't happy with my DFI since it couldn't handle 8 GB.

But CPU clocking on it was a piece of cake for me, & so was RAM clocking with < 2 DIMMs.

Something's wrong Gillbot...it sounds like the board to me, though gl with DFI in getting a replacement

I don't think the board is defective per se. It runs my chip fine at 3.4GHz and Aigomorla's chip walked in at 3.6GHz so it works fine. I went through a few bios versions and it runs fine once you get it to POST. It seems to have an issue with my memory though as it keeps trying to force it to run 1066 even though it's 800 ram. No matter what I do, if I clear CMOS or load fail safe settings, it tries to force my ram to 1066.

My issue with this board is more the fact that I have to jump through hoops in bios settings for it to run, even after loading fail safe settings. To me, that's totally unacceptable but most DFI enthusiasts say it's normal for DFI. I guess it's easier to chalk it up to my lack of DFI experience. Call me crazy but "load fail safe settings" should be exactly that, FAIL SAFE.

Interesting.

Eh, as i said in another thread, DFI is way overrated.

I've owned two now.

First one was the infamous UT nF4 Ultra-D.

I spent a week trying to get my RAM stable at stock (couldn't even load an OS), couldn't, gave up, returned it, & got an A8R-MVP which i proceeded to install, & then boot up & install Windows flawlessly

Granted, i was a bit less knowledgeable than i am today, but it still didn't make me happy

Then i got my UT P35-T2R.
Decent board for some things, though way overpriced as usual.

And while it works great with 2 DIMM slows populated, it shows its real colors with 3 or 4...basically turning itself into similar caliber as my ancient P5B-D, & crapping out all over the place if i dare use any ratio other than 2:3, including failing stability testing with underclocked CPU & RAM

In short, DFI is sometimes good. For some people, who accept its flaws...

you hit the nail on the head there and DFI is NOT for me. My Neo2-FR "just worked" with whatever I threw at it. If I went too far, a clear cmos would bring it back without hassles.
