I could do with recommendations on an upgrade i'm thinking of doing. I recently upgraded my graphics card to an AGP X800 PE, and think its about time the rest of my system got an overhall. I'll be updating the processor, ram, power supply, hard drives and of course the mobo. I've not really been following the latest hardware news so I don't know whats going on with it all at the momenet.
One of the big aims is to keep the noise down, as my current setup sounds like a small aircraft..! So a decent processor fan (preferably not too crazy, some of them are bigger than me..) and a nice quiet power supply are a must. I've already got an Artic Cooling external exhaust thingy for my graphics card, so that should help there.
I've also got 3 IDE HDDs that i'd like to keep for backup and extra storage so the mobo needs to support these if possible (as well as a serial one(s) for the new install to go on).
I heard about a board that had both PCIe and AGP ports which sounded good as my graphics card is AGP at the moment but if I upgrade before I change the rest of the system (quite likely) then it'll also allow the inevitable PCIe card to work without changing the mobo. Not sure what the boards like though.
About the only thing I've 'decided' on is that the new AMD X2 processors seem like a good bet, though correct me if I'm wrong!
