I got a surprise today and my Vive arrived. Oddly, I have yet to be charged for it. *fingers crossed*
Are you aware there is a ton of aftermarket stuff (mods) available for Minecraft? Someone had a Tower Defense server setup a few years ago:

Amazon had the Occulus Rift earlier today at 9 AM PDT, was able to get in on the action and snag one, woot!
Got lucky as it was gone in a few minutes (kept reloading and took a while to pop up).
I am curious about a few things with how it works. Firstly, if you move your eyes instead of your head, does it ruin the experience? Also, how sensitive are the sensors? Will it pick up very tiny head movements?
This doesn't correlate with my experiences at all. I haven't played a single game on a 2D monitor since I got my Vive over two weeks ago. I play a lot of roomscale games, sitting games, and if there is no VR option at all I play them in the Steam theater or Virtual Desktop. I'm so impressed with how everything works that I think next gen might replace my monitor altogether. There are lots who are already making that change, but I'm going to wait for the next step in resolution for reading text in Virtual Desktop.
According to Steam, I've logged 130 hours in Steam since I got my Vive. I'd say I'm getting my use out of it, for sure.
Are you referring to Windows desktop? I wonder if you could change the font or increase font size or spacing would do the trick?
If you mean the text in games, then does that include text on textures like signs..etc?
Virtual Desktop is a program that projects your desktop onto a large curved virtual screen in front of you with your choice of environment around you. So, yes, Windows desktop text, but projected virtually. You can adjust the screen size, distance, and curvature to suit your needs though. It works pretty well, even on today's hardware. With a resolution bump a monitor won't even be needed or missed.
Lol that video is funny, glad she didn't get hurt or break it! I love how she looks confused after hitting something she couldn't see.

Thanks that looks pretty cool. I will try it.
Interestingly, it's still required to have a monitor connected to the video card. I'm not sure of the reason, maybe to stop people from using the video cards just for bitmining? Of course, there's a workaround, mini devices that you connect to the video card output to fool it into thinking there is a monitor attached, but still, I'm hoping they remove that restriction.
I just used a DP to miniDP cable.

Oh yeah that's what I used. Had to order it because I didn't have any DP cables.
That's what I swapped to as well. Most video cards only have one HDMI port on them these days and about a billion DisplayPort ports, so you might as well use that. Plus, I figure that a TV is a nice display if you want to show off what's happening in the game.
So, been messing with it for about an hour and I'm sold on the technology. Just need the content now. The wife even thought it was really cool and she's hard to please.

I know what it is, but you can also play regular games on it so I wasn't sure if you meant the OS or the text in games.
But that doesn't answer my question if changing Windows fonts or size/scale of text helps?
NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang revealed that it's faster than its current performance king, the $1,000 Titan X, as well as three times as power efficient. That's particularly impressive since it's the successor to NVIDIA's GTX 980, which retails for around $600.
Huang says the 1080 is twice as fast as the Titan X when using the multi-projection feature to render VR.
The GTX 1080 will be available for $599 on May 27, and you can also snag a special NVIDIA-designed "founders edition" for $699 (which looks like it includes a stylish new cooler).
Yep, got lucky..Has yours shipped yet? Apparently they over sold.

You can absolutely move your eyes, but towards the very edges of the lenses it gets blurry. Small head movements are definitely picked up. The Vive has sub-millimeter precision.
Goodbye Oculus, hello GTX 1080!
Screw that I'm getting both. My poor ol 970 just can't keep up very well anymore, some games I see dips below 30fps so a 1080 should cure that....for a while.
Wow. Thanks, sounds great.You can absolutely move your eyes, but towards the very edges of the lenses it gets blurry. Small head movements are definitely picked up. The Vive has sub-millimeter precision.
* 8 gigs VRAM
* $599
* Available May 27th
* 3x as power efficient as the Titan X
* Faster than the $1k Titan X card
