I remember that around a year ago there was a thread on this forum about generating an electromagnetic pulse without the nuclear blast that is usually associated with it. I was talking to a friend of mine the other day about the E-bombs that they've been talking about lately to generate an EMP and fry all of the electronics within a given area, and we were trying to grasp how the EMP would be generated. I know that someone gave a possible solution last year, but I can't remember the details. I tried a Google search and the only info I could find involved the use of nuclear weapons to do so. Anyone with more info on this topic?
Also, a followup question. As I understand it, these weapons generate enormous electric and magnetic fields, with the electric fields applying huge voltages to circuits, along with the large amount of time rate of change of magnetic flux to induce even larger voltages, until all of the circuits smoke out. Is this a decent (poor man's) summary?
