Yep, but I also can see that both sides do it. Its just that older people tend to have a little more wisdom. Does not always help, but it often does.

Can you though? Because when I pointed it out that this behavior (old and young), has been common throughout history, your response was to ask how old I am. That's not a question someone asks who can see both sides.

in subtle and intelligent ways, they would mold your thinking / views to what they consider acceptable and proper.
I prefer subtle and intelligent to emotional and irrational, the preferred communication style of the alt-right and woke crowds.

And have you found yourself unemployable as a consequence of someone mouthing off on a web forum?
If you really think that is 'McCarthyism' you don't know what McCarthyism is.

If you think it was just about people losing their jobs, then you are wrong. Ultimately, it was a way to gain power. The label alone was enough to ruin someone.

No. What I responded to was your comment implying I was an old person. Your position is that of someone who is not looking at both sides, and is seeing the "old people" as the problem.

Amazing isn't it. I'm everything you say I am and yet I'm also none of those things.

What? I have at most accused you of one thing, which is doing what has always been done. Old guard was not to imply you were old. Old guard was to say you were doing the same thing that has been done throughout history.

Again, your posts and moonbeams post were nothing but old people ranting about shit kids do. Its old, unoriginal, and tired.

If you aren't old then stop ranting about "the problem with kids today".

Oh? What was that, pointing out the obvious? Pointing out hypocrisy? Or holding a mirror to your face?

Why are you lumping me in with Moon? I asked him how his day was going because his post to you seemed a bit different from his typical style. I never ranted. I stated what the younger kids do which is not incorrect. Younger people lack wisdom. Old people lack the desire to challenge the way things are. You need both. What happens every so often is that one side builds more power and pushes out the other side. Right now we are seeing the younger side win out, but it will go back and eventually there will be a time again when the old people take power. Its all cycles.

But, I am curious how old you are which is why I asked.

As an old person myself I am sensing some ageism going on here. Old people.... the one demographic in America that everybody can feel good about spitting on. Well I got my AARP card now and I soon will be living off you young punks so I get the last laugh I guess. Wait till you are old and decrepit like us.... it is actually worse than everybody says.

And have you been ruined by the mighty power of ATP&N posters?

Your comparison was ridiculous.

You are sensing some ageism? Lol, did you see your post? Did you see the Op's post? This whole thread is about ageism. The issue, however, is that some people see themselves as the victim and not the perpetrator.

Everyone's been paying for your generation for decades. I'll also happily continue to pay for you to mooch off of the government (according to your generation and the people you elect) so you can enjoy the rest of your life.

In fact I've even advocated lowering the retirement age. I'll even pay more in taxes just to get the worst generation out of the picture (economically speaking).

But you are welcome, us punks have no problem taking care of you ungrateful, selfish, hypocritical, snowflakes. We will even stay off your lawns too!

How is your day going Moon?
Well I suppose you know that when you ask me how my day is going you realize there are two of me, a wolf and a sheep as it were, and one personality in my right hemisphere that speak but sends up smoke signals that intimate at things. Then there is the me that forms my speaking awareness whom you probable think of as your only self, who, in my case, is talking here to you. He's the one that has all the verbal opinions and says the following about my day. Things got off to a rough start as I noticed my credit card is missing as well as my nieces jacket, perhaps the result of self hating Uncle Stinky Pans not being fucking aware of what he is doing. But that all got resolved with some luck and input from my right Hemisphere. The other me is the only one, it seems, who knows where I put my glasses.

Then, well first some background. My older niece, not the one with the lost jacket, but the one who got a sewing machine for Christmas got me interested in sewing and I have been studying not just sewing but pattern making and tailoring to boot. Speaking of boots, I used to make sandals so I already knew how to sew by hand. Well that lead to me weaving the nieces some belts, I used to weave too, and that got me to my present one of two interests, learning how to knit. The other is that I picked up my father's old ukuleles and have been trying to play them which brings me to the point. I'm growing the nails on my right hand to better pluck the strings and went out in the garden a couple of hours back to weed and now I've a shit pile of dirt under them. But the joy of finding my credit card which, by the way has a bunch of points I've never used on it but can, has eliminated any thoughts of suicide over my nails I might have had. So all and all, I guess, as far as the day's progress, I'd say that both of me are doing OK. And the wolf, the wolf, he wants to know how are things with you and that if you need help with something, just to ask.

I work for a company that has written people up for things said on social media. Not because what was said was offensive, because a customer complained. I have offended many people on here and a claim made by someone here would likely get me into trouble.

That said, mccarthyism was about power. That power was gained by playing on people's fear and or hatred of a group.

GFs sister had a miscarriage so it's been a tough day. Still alive so I'm still happy.

I think we're seeing though that reporting factually to people who disagree for no reason at all other than their own opinion and too lazy to actually do any research on their own is just tossed as 'fake news'. I don't see a win in either direction because as with every issue - the root of the problem is people, and people are getting lazier and more self absorbed.

FTFY

Its all part of the plan. Russia has infiltrated us and creating an atmosphere where people are confused and don't know what to think or who to trust so they tune out. Or they elect those that exploit their fears and distrust of institutions.

I am 51 so technically I am not a baby boomer but a gen xer. But hell ya, I am an ungrateful self-absorbed American asshole. That is probably the only thing that the vast majority of Americans have in common.

That's funny. In an instant you will be the old man and then someone will be telling you that you are like all that came before.

Don't have kids.

Yeah, no shit! So why is this a hard concept for you guys to get?

I assume you don't want me to have kids so that, once again, you can screw over future generations. We get it, fyigm.

You would be mistaken. I don't want to screw your kids. I want to protect your potential progeny from you. You'll just mess up their world.
